Hands-on with the IWC Ingenieur Dual Time Titanium ref. IW326403 - Monochrome Watches
One of the Ingenieur models that we haven’t discussed in detail, is the Ingenieur Dual Time Titanium ref.?IW326403. It was launched this January, when IWC introduced the completely “re-engineered” Ingenieur collection. During an IWC event earlier this week we had the chance to get hands-on experience with this robust globetrotter.Until now the focus was aimed at the classical Ingenieur Automatic, the?Ingenieur Chronograph Racer, and the more technical models like the?Ingenieur AMG Black Ceramic and the Ingenieur AMG Double Chronograph Titanium. When it comes to pure practicality, the Ingenieur Dual Time Titanium is probably the best horse of the stable. It’s a perfect travelers watch, something that becomes of more value now we travel the world and have friends, family and business around the globe. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Th
Patek Philippe Nautilus ref.5980/1A Fully Reviewed - Monochrome Watches
Any discerning watch fan would know that the race to build the first ever automatic chronograph in the late 1960s was one of the moments that changed the landscape of how we define sports watches today. It's a topic of much debate and great controversy regarding who came first. Similar to Formula One racing, the very sport that became synonymous to automatic chronographs, competition is stiff - and winning is everything. This is where qualifying in pole position, and passing the checkered flag first means basking in the glory of winning. However, any discerning race fan would also know that sometimes you don’t have to come first to win the championship…Put aside your watch nerd hat for a moment, and don the racing helmet of one of Formula One’s greatest. Let’s take a trip down memory lane. The year is 1991 and Formula One is at its peak, with speed demon Ayrton Senna (may he rest in peace) racing with everything he’s got. It is the year where the newer mor
Panerai PAM 00557 - Left Luminor 1950 3-Days 47mm - Monochrome Watches
When Panerai launched the PAM127 a.k.a. 1950 a.k.a. Fiddy, back in 2002, they could never have thought that this very model would cause so much. Collectors went crazy about it and three years later Angelo Bonati (Panerai's CEO) gave the green light for a left-hand version of the Fiddy (PAM 00217). Two years ago (2011) there was the PAM372 that won collector's hearts all over again, and at next year's SIHH they are going to introduce the lefty version of the PAM372, being the PAM 00557 Luminor 1950 3-Days 47mm. Not only a whole mouthful but also a whole “wristful.”As the name already reveals, the case is 47 mm in diameter. The crown and iconic crown protector are now positioned on the left side of the case, making it more easy for left-handed people to wind the watch and adjust the time. But you don't have to be a southpaw, to buy this lefty Luminor 1950 3-Days.When Panerai made the first watches for the Italian navy, mechanical wristwatches and other mechanical instruments
Seiko PROSPEX - The Sumo gathering | PHOTO REPORT
In a community of watch collectors, the concept of a get-together is not exactly new. Such events are mostly dominated by collectors of “the Crown,” but every once in a while, something special brews up. Luckily, we at Monochrome managed to be present for one such event. This event paid tribute to a timepiece that coincidentally does end with the letters “E” and “X” – but before you say anything… it's not !What you are seeing here is in fact a Seiko Prospex (Professional Specifications) gathering. Fans of our site can tell that the writers of Monochrome have a special fascination for the aforementioned Japanese brand. In case you missed our other Seiko articles, you can read them here, here and here. Stalwarts of the brand know how well this watch is built, the technical feats it accomplishes, its historical origin and its unbeatable price tag. The only downside is, they are Japanese exclusive pieces. But that wouldn't exactly stop us fr
Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Chronograph Tourbillon (Specs-Price)
In 2015, in the frame of its 260th anniversary, Vacheron Constantin launched a beautiful mono-pusher chronograph tourbillon housed in a cushion-shaped case, the Harmony. The watch was powered by the Calibre 3200. This superb movement now returns in a classic case, a new but no less beautiful attire Meet the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Chronograph Tourbillon. The Traditionnelle Chronograph Tourbillon is classic Vacheron Constantin, with a twist. Although this new model combines two traditional complications, these are presented in a truly original way. Rather than appearing on the lower part of the dial, its tourbillon regulator is unusually positioned at 12 o'clock. The chronograph is a mono-pusher with a 45-minute register at 3 o'clock. The power reserve indication creates a counterpoint to the tourbillon at 6 o'clock. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
