Hands-On - Bulgari Octo Retro Maserati GranSport & GranLusso (Specs & Price)
This couldn’t really be more of an Italian affair… Since 2012, the two Italian brands Bulgari and Maserati have worked in partnership for the creation of dedicated watches, inspired by the world of luxury and sports cars. The first two editions, a complex Octo Quadri-Retro in 2012 and a bold?Octo Velocissimo?in 2014, were equipped with chronograph movements. However, for their latest joint creation, the new Bulgari Octo Retro Maserati, we’ll have something completely different in terms of display, but still with the same sports-car inspiration behind.Even if the two Italian brands Bulgari and Maserati have been in union since 2012, it couldn’t be considered a highly prolific partnership. Indeed, in 5 years, only 2 watches have been created. Our Favourite Watches of "Time To Move" Swatch Group Event - Monochrome Watches
The news broke last summer – Nick Hayek announced that from 2019 onwards, Swatch Group and its brands would no longer be present at Baselworld. As a consequence, the luxury powerhouse decided to organise its own product presentation “Time To Move” for its most luxurious brands: Breguet, Blancpain, Glashutte Original, Harry Winston, Jaquet Droz and Omega. First for retailers in Zurich in March, and then for the press in each of the brand's Manufactures (except for Glashutte Original). Held mid-May, the unveiling of these novelties came later than usual and we were very curious to see what surprises the Swatch Group high-end brands had in store for us. Here are our favourite watches from “Time To Move” - which we have limited to just one watch per brand.Note: this selection is based on a consensus among the MONOCHROME team. It reflects our preferences of the watches unveiled during “Time To Move”. If there are other watches you'd love to mention,
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai Amida Falls
In Japanese art and culture, few names resonate as much as Katsushika Hokusai. This 19th-century master artist is well-known beyond Japan’s borders as his fame extends into the Western world as well. Hokusai was one of the rare Japanese craftsmen who elevated woodblock printing, considered a simpler form of art at the time, to a high-end artform. His series of 8 woodblock prints created in 1833 and 1834, all depicting waterfalls found across Japan, is considered to be one of the finest representations of landscapes ever produced. Among this series is The Great Wave off Kanagawa, but also the Amida Falls, which is the topic of choice in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s latest Reverso Tribute.?Using the iconic Reverso concept, JLC has taken the caseback of the Reverso Monoface and turned it into a miniature canvas yet again. This time a miniature reproduction of Hokusai’s woodblock print of the Amida Falls is hand-applied on the closed back side of the reversible case with Grand Feu
