Watches NEWS
Close to SIHH - Monochrome Watches
Every year there are two main watch fairs where most brands shos their watches to their customers and the worldpress. One of those fairs is in Basel and all brands united in the Swatch Group and a lot of other (independent) brands expose their new products. The Salon International de Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) is the equivalent where the brands of the Richemont Group show their new products. The SIHH is very early this year so rumors already go around on the watch forums ??The SIHH starts january 19th and lasts untill the 23th and is like every year in Geneve. So starting the 3rd week of january brands like IWC, Panerai, Jaeger LeCoultre, Cartier, Girard Perregaux, Dunhill, Audemars Piguet and A.Lange und Sohne will proudly present new wathes and i must admit i can’t wait to see what they will present. Lots of my favorite brands are part of the Richemont Group so the good thing is that i won’t have to wait untill the Basel watch fair in April ??Last year IWC brought us (among
Thoughts on the Patek Philippe Nautilus ref.5711 (and why I didn't buy one) - Monochrome Watches
The segment of luxury sports watches remains an interesting and intriguing category in the world of watches. Since the very first luxury sports watch was introduced in 1972 – the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref. 5402ST – many brands have tried to enter this segment, most of them without the success they had envisioned. The watch we will be looking at today did succeed, and might just have superseded the immense success of the Royal Oak. I'm talking about the Patek Philippe Nautilus and today we'll be looking at this extremely popular luxury sports watch.Originally introduced in 1977 as the Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 3700, this was Patek's take on the luxury sports watch and, like the Royal Oak, it was designed by Gerald Genta. In 2006 it was replaced by ref. 5711, an updated, modernised version of the basic stainless steel Nautilus. Over the years there have been quite a few variations, materials, and additional functions for the Nautilus, which we covered in our three-part
The New Green Piaget Polo Collection for 2022 (Price)
Released in 2016 after causing a bit of a storm, the Piaget Polo collection has now become a cornerstone of the brand, representing its sporty-chic offering. Using classic design elements of Piaget and combining them with its thin automatic movements – even with a striking openworked edition – the Piaget Polo is now fairly established in the watchmaker’s landscape, and it’s been unveiled in?several green models already. Now, for 2022, some new green editions are presented, with the new green Piaget Polo Skeleton and the new green-and-gold Piaget Polo Date.Polo is?an important name for Piaget. Since its creation in 1979, the collection has been the brand's incarnation of the luxury sports watch, but it has been known under rather different incarnations. The Piaget Polo as we know it today has been presented in 2016, surfing on the wave for elegant, thin yet robust sporty-chic watches. A combination well-known to watch enthusiasts, which is here presented with cla
Buying Guide - The Best GMT/Traveller's Watches of Baselworld 2018
GMT Watches… How not to look at this specific category when the star of the show this year, at Baselworld 2018, featured such a complication. You name it: the GMT Pepsi Steel. Yet, that was not the only Traveller’s watch to be introduced during the fair. In fact, we’ve seen some pretty interesting new offers. Here are 7 very different watches, from an elegant Patek to an ultra-robust Oris, but all with the same purpose: displaying multiple time-zones.Breitling Navitimer 8 B35 Automatic UnitimeIf the in-house B01 chronograph?is the collection’s flagship, the new Navitimer 8 line-up comprises anther cool watch, with a world-time function. Good point with this piece is that, due to its usually rather clean and simple style, the addition of such a complex display keeps the design of the watch understated and functional. The central part remains plain while the periphery of the dial on this?Breitling Navitimer 8 B35 Automatic Unitime receives the traditional 24H an
All You Need To Know: Polo, Clare Mountbatten and Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso - Monochrome Watches
Polo (on a horse that is), has a mysterious allure. One of exclusivity and physical bravery. The ultimate sporting expression of man and beast working in perfect synergy. For those who don't play (and I count myself in that group), the sport of kings is also devilishly difficult to understand. And when I say that, it's not just the game itself that's hard to grasp - it's the culture, the financing and playing calendar that baffles. When it comes to watches – a subject I am more comfortable with – the link between polo and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is inextricable. But to fully appreciate the watch and its historical significance it almost seems wrong to not be able to really understand the sport. And for that reason, I sat down with a woman as qualified as any to take us through the basics: Clare Mountbatten, Marchioness of Milford Haven to give her full name. Clare is a Jaeger-LeCoultre ambassador and one of the most well-known faces in British polo. She took up the spor
