Recap: Revisiting The Most Notable Watches Of Watches & Wonders 2022
You can’t determine where you’re going without knowing where you’ve been, right? And as watchmaking companies regularly look in the rear-view mirror for inspiration for future collections and references, we’re going to do the same. In a change from our regular weekly Buying Guide where we group watches around a common theme, we’re revisiting the watches of Watches & Wonders from last year. We felt it would help to refresh the collective memory of what were the most notable pieces from 2022, now that Watches & Wonders 2023 is basically just around the corner. Out of everything presented, we selected the 8 pieces that stood out to us and will tell you why. So without further ado, let’s dive straight in!Tudor Black bay ProAnd dive straight in we shall, with one of the best value-for-money watches of the entire fair. The Tudor Black Bay Pro presented in 2022 is a true GMT watch, with a high-performance movement and simply looks the part. The fixe
A closer look at the dressy yet casual Tissot Chemin des Tourelles In Blue
Tissot is among the largest Swiss watch brands (by volume) and renowned for stylish yet affordable mechanical collections. The PRX collection has been the talk of the town lately, but the Chemin Des Tourelles collection is just as compelling. There are three sizes available throughout the line (34mm, 39mm and 42mm), but we're focusing specifically on the Chemin Des Tourelles in 39mm, with a refined blue dual-texture dial. It’s one of those watches that are well-rounded enough to be an excellent choice for just about anyone, regardless of budget. It certainly left us impressed after some wrist time. The stainless steel case is universally sized at 39mm in diameter and 11.2mm in height. Contemporary without being oversized, compact without being tiny, basically. There's a (slightly) domed AR sapphire crystal protecting the dial, with an exhibition case back on the reverse side, and combined with polished and brushed elements, it can dress up or down. In fact, it would be equally at
Hautlence Vortex Bronze - Extreme High-End goes Bronze as well - Live Photos, Specs and Price - Monochrome Watches
Over the last five years the use of bronze as material for watches has become quite a popular thing, and although not necessarily a commonplace, we see more bronze watches today than ever before. Bronze has found its way into almost every price segment; however it’s mainly used for?sports watches. Hautlence thinks otherwise, and actually, we wouldn’t expect anything else from them! The brand that makes a point of ‘crossing the line’ now comes with their most complex timepiece in a bronze case, and it looks just brilliant! Here’s the Hautlence Vortex Bronze.?The use of bronze…Bronze has gained in popularity since the introduction of the Panerai Bronzo PAM382, back in 2011. This wasn’t the first watch in bronze; however it was the one that ignited the interest from collectors, and subsequently that from other?brands. Before Panerai came with the much-famed Bronzo, there was the Gerald Genta Gefica (Gefica Chronographe in 1995) and later, in 2008,
Mechanical depth gauge - Monochrome Watches
A few years ago IWC was the first Swiss watch brand to make a high end mechanical watch with a mechanical depth gauge, the famous IWC Deep One. I can still remember the first time i saw that watch, it was for me the most beautiful divewatch i’d ever seen. And i guess untill this day it’s one of my favorite dive watches.Unfortunately IWC doesn’t produce them anymore, because the mechanical depth gauge gave them quite some trouble as i understood it. Now since last year there are some new high end watch brands bringing out a divewatch with a mechanical depth gauge, Panerai and Jaeger LeCoultre. Ad - Scroll to continue with article In Revolution Magazine you can read a very interesting article about these divewatches with meachical depth gauges. You can find it via the website of Horomundi or Timezone. On the IWC forum there is also a most excellen
First Look: The Tudor Black Bay Ceramic Blue 79210CNU
There’s already plenty said about the Black Bay collection and its effect on Tudor as a brand. Yes, it’s a gargantuan success and yes it’s home to countless iterations by now, and more will likely come further down the line. From its humble beginnings in 2012 with the release of the Black Bay Burgundy 79220R to bronze, silver and gold models, we’ve seen it all it seems. But surprisingly, Tudor has managed to keep the Black Bay’s momentum going by introducing new sizes, slightly changing its overall design (here’s looking at you Black Bay 54!) and adding a touch of complexity with GMTs and Chronographs. Recently though, they’ve perhaps launched the ‘freshest’ Black Bay in a long while, the Black Bay Ceramic Blue! This Black Bay Ceramic Blue is nothing really new under the sun as it’s mostly about the dial colour and of course the connection to the VCARB Formula 1 racing team. Early this year, Tudor announced it would enter the f
