Glashutte Original SeaQ Panorama Date - Dive Watch Review (Specs & Price)
During Time To Move 2019, Swatch Group’s own event to present the new collections, Glashutte Original presented?several watches totally in line with its usual conception of watchmaking, such as the facelifted Senator Chronometer or an engraved PanoInverse. Yet, the star of the show, the watch that the Saxon brand presented first, the main novelty for 2019… is a watch none of us actually expected from the brand; a dive watch collection named SeaQ. Following our first look right after its presentation, it is time now to have a closer look at the modern SeaQ Panorama Date, to see if this Saxon dive watch is convincing (or not).?We were not expecting GO on the dive watch market… But (spoiler) the result is quite convincing! The Glashutte Original SeaQ marks the debut of multiple things for the brand. Not only is this a new watch segment, with multiple references introduced, in various colours, sizes and complications, but SeaQ is the first member of a new collection, the s
Auction Report - 10 Highlights of the Upcoming 97th Dr Crott Auctioneers (Part 1)
We only cover watch auctions occasionally, and, as editor-in-chief, I’m well aware of this void in our coverage of the world of watches. So, while we’re looking for someone to cover auctions and vintage timepieces for MONOCHROME (yes, we’re hiring), I’m taking a look at the upcoming 97th Dr Crott Auction. Flipping through the pages of the Dr?Crott auction catalogue always put a huge smile on my face; so many horological goodies, so many beautiful, rare, impressive and desirable pieces. Today?I’m sharing ten highlights of the upcoming auction, and tomorrow some more…?In general, Dr Crott Auctions feature many watches, including many pocket watches from the German brand A. Lange & Sohne. To me, that’s already enough reason to look forward to the moment the auction catalogue drops on the doormat. The upcoming 97th auction is no different in this perspective; lots of Lange watches. No potential?record-setting Paul Newman Daytonas are featured,
Hands-On - Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph 38mm ref. 26315 (Specs & Price)
Although the launch of?Code 11.59 and the consequent deluge of reactions pretty much eclipsed other novelties of the brand during the SIHH 2019, Audemars Piguet had some treats up its sleeve, including this 38mm Royal Oak Chronograph. Still the same watch as the existing 41mm Royal Oak Chronograph but 3mm smaller, still powered by the same automatic chronograph movement, the new 38mm Royal Oak Chronograph is out to conquer men and women's wrists alike. Three versions, one in rose gold and two in stainless steel, were presented at the SIHH 2019 – and judging by the positive reactions so far, this size might well become a regular member of the Royal Oak Chronograph family.?Designed by Gerald Genta in 1972, the Royal Oak paved the way for the rise of the luxury sports watch genre. A 39mm stainless steel watch for men costing as much or more than a gold dress watch, the Royal Oak featured a commanding octagonal bezel, exposed hexagonal screws, a guilloche “tapisserie dial”

Hands-On - Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Enamel 2019 Limited (Specs & Price)
Since its facelift in 2013, the Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual has appeared in various guises, including the sleek black dial version we saw in 2016. However, I think there is unanimous agreement that the 2019 white gold version with its blue enamel guilloche dial wins hands down. Released as part of a limited edition trilogy, including the Master Ultra-Thin Moon Enamel and Tourbillon models, the new members of the Master-Thin Enamel family stole the show. The watch we will be looking at today comes with a revised movement and display and indicates the phases of the Moon in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Enamel we’re reviewing today is part of a sub-collection of 3 watches (all in limited production), depicting superb enamel/guilloche dials in translucent blue.Realigning the QP functionsLike its predecessor, the case of the new Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual still measures 39mm but is crafted in gleaming white gold and has a slightly thicker
