The Collector's Series - Lung Lung and Her A. Lange & Sohne Datograph
Hong Kong-based watch enthusiast Lung Lung Thun (32) also known as @lunglungthun is one of the regular contributors to our Collector's Series, with her vast collection of beautiful watches. We've already discussed with her the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold Carolina Bucci. And today, it's one of our all-time favourite watches that will be the centre of attention. Tzoumy watches - unique pentagonal watches launching on Kickstarter
When it comes to watches, there are three, maybe four basic shapes people can expect. The most obvious shape is of course round, simple as that. On the other end of the spectrum, we have watches with a square case. Other than that, we can distinguish cushion-, tonneau-, or helmet-shaped watches but that’s pretty much it. Well, not anymore, as Yvan Monnet is presenting the pentagon-shaped Tzoumy Watches collection, now available on Kickstarter.Yvan Monnet is a Swiss-born watchmaker, formerly working for prestigious brands like Patek Phillipe and Vacheron Constantin. In 2016 he presented a very limited series of watches under his own name, with a unique pentagonal shape for the case and dial. In June last year, a chance encounter with Gerrit Spalteholz, lead to a new project called Tzoumy Watches. The Oris Williams FW41 Limited Edition Full Carbon - Monochrome Watches
For the last 15 years, Oris and Williams F1 have been enjoying a mutually beneficial union. As the world-renowned Formula 1 team's official watch partner, Oris periodically releases special edition models to celebrate significant milestones for the team. A perfect example is the recently launched Martini Racing Limited Edition Chronograph, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Martini Racing Team, Williams' principal sponsor. Now, another special edition joins the line-up; the Oris Williams FW41 Limited Edition.Unless you're a hardcore F1 fan, it's probably not immediately obvious what significant Williams F1 milestone this watch is celebrating. FW41 is the name of William's 2018 Formula 1 car, which was officially launched back in February of this year. First Look: The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Openface 270th-Anniversary Editions
Not all of Vacheron Constantin's 270th-anniversary pieces are steeped in classicism. The three Traditionnelle Openface models are refreshingly contemporary, offering a view of the modern architecture of their calibres. While the complications differ from model to model, the new trilogy shares openworked dials, a special guilloche pattern designed to mark the anniversary and luxurious platinum cases with stepped lugs, fluting and a slender bezel. The Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Retrograde Date, powered by a new in-house movement, the Tourbillon Retrograde Date and the Complete Calendar Openface references are each limited editions of 370 individually numbered pieces.Having mentioned the contemporary spirit of the Openface dials, it might come as a surprise to learn that Vacheron had an openworked model in its archives, in the form of a pocket watch with an astronomical calendar produced in 1918.
