Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Titanium 26574TI
Just over a decade after the launch of the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet introduced the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar. A leader in the field of QP complications, Audemars Piguet combined Gerald Genta's iconoclastic design of 1972 with the thinnest automatic QP movement of the day to produce the hugely successful Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar (Ref. 5554). A staple in the collection since its launch, the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar was revamped in 2015 with a larger and sportier 41mm case size and the incorporation of a week display. A few months ago, we reviewed the latest RO Perpetual Calendars in pink gold and steel cases with blue dials that evoke the colour of the original Royal Oak. A new model, crafted in titanium with a blue dial and grey sub-dials, is set to launch exclusively in the United States in September with limited availability in other countries in October.Classic Royal Oak CaseSharing the same technical specifications, layout and movement as other Royal Oak Perpetual Calen
A young Frenchman pursuing a career in clock- & watchmaking.
Over the course of the past couple of months, we've introduced you to a fair number of new and exciting watchmakers doing some fascinating things. One thing that becomes clear talking to these individuals is the love for sharing their passion, and there's a shared network of watchmakers helping each other move forward, perfecting skills and learning new traits in the process. Theo Levaltier, a student who is about to complete a 7-year study at the Lycee Edgar Faure in Morteau, France, is no different. This youngster, only 22 years old, has worked with and is trained by Florent Lecomte, Thierry Ducret and others, and is now looking to set out on his own. Initially, his plan is to restore historical clocks and watches, but seeing his work on school projects, we'd happily see more of his own work in the future as well!Robin Nooij, MONOCHROME: Theo, I think it's best if you first introduce yourself to our readers? Can you share a bit of your background? Ad - Scroll to continue w

Tudor 2014 News - Or What Would Love To See At Baselworld 2014 - Monochrome Watches
A few days ago, we gave you our thoughts on what could be ’ offering of novelties at the upcoming Baselworld fair. Tudor, having been in the shadow of big brother for some decades, have been working on a rather successful come-back in the past years. While doesn’t dwell on the past, Tudor on the other hand did do that and resurrected brilliantly by using their past. And like its big brother, they guard their secrets and the only way to for us to get a glimpse of their future is to dream up our desired 2014 Tudor novelties. As said, Tudor has quite a crush on vintage, their own vintage models that is. And we join them in having a crush on Tudor models of yesteryear. Like the old Submariner Snowflake, the Sub Big Crown, and the Big Block chronograph. These models found their way into the current collection, as Tudor introduced quite a few vintage-inspired models in the past years. Just think of the Heritage Chrono (inspired by the Monte-Carlo), the Black Bay (inspired by
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon in 18k Rose Gold
Back in 2019, Vacheron Constantin introduced a tourbillon to the Overseas collection. Its stainless steel case and vivid blue dial held the self-winding ultra-thin Calibre 2160 inside. Now the manufacturer unveils an 18k rose gold version and since going through a major uplift back in 2016, the Overseas now offers some really nice features like its interchangeable strap system and a slim 10.39mm-thick case. The new 18K rose gold Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon watch is a 42.5mm model with a translucent blue lacquered dial executed with a sunburst satin-finished surface, surrounded by a velvet-finished flange. This particular shade of blue was chosen as a flagship colour that recalled watch dials of the 1950s and 60s. The model, still dedicated to travellers, maintains its distinct aesthetic with an instantly recognisable six-sided bezel evoking the company's Maltese Cross symbol. The bevelled edges on the case and integrated bracelet remain faithful to the Overseas' sporty tempe
