Introducing the Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph French LE
The connection between classic cars and Chopard isn't to be demonstrated anymore. Beyond the brand's co-CEO passion for vintage automobiles, the brand has been associated with the emblematic Mille Miglia race since 1988. In the frame of this partnership, Chopard developed a dedicated collection of racing chronographs, with now 35 years of history under the hood. Now, in the context of one of the largest classic car shows in Europe, Retromobile, Chopard presents its latest creation, the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph French Limited Edition. The Mille Miglia, an iconic open-road endurance race spanning approximately 1,500km from Brescia to Rome and back, was established in 1927 by Count Mazzotti and Count Maggi. Legend has it that their dissatisfaction with the relocation of the Italian Grand Prix from Brescia to Monza spurred the inception of this legendary event. In 1988, Chopard lent its support to the revived (since 1977) Mille Miglia race for cars constructe
LVMH 2020 Full Year Results, Resilience Despite Lockdowns, Impact on Watches
Following mixed mid-year announcements, grearly impacted by a series of lockdowns in Europe and Asia, we certainly not expected the world’s leader in luxury to present positive results for the full year 2020. Especially since the soft and hard luxury industries have been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. LVMH just released its 2020 Full Year Results and the French luxury powerhouse shows resilience with sales down in a less dramatic way than expected and even strong recovery for the last quarter in certain markets. Altogether, sales on the period are down 17% at EUR 44,651 million, versus EUR 53,670 million in 2019. Remember that, over the first semester of 2020, the group was re
Introducing: Qin Gan Pastorale II
I’ve been saying it for years now; watchmaking is a universal trade. Gone are the days when it was for the Swiss only, or even Europe for that matter. These days, with virtually no boundaries thanks to the online world, there’s surprising and exciting watchmaking to be found all over the globe. Take China for instance, long perceived as inferior when it came to watch production. That stigma has been well and truly broken as several brands and (independent) watchmakers have made great strides to produce watches to the very best of their abilities, coming close to or even rivalling the main establishment. One such man is Qin Gan, the Chinese watchmaker known for his beautiful Pastorale. Now, three years after its commercial debut, Qin Gan is ready to launch the handsome Pastorale II.Qin Gan (right) with industry veteran Dominique Renaud (left).Residing in Chongqing, China, Qin Gan’s journey into watchmaking is quite remarkable. As the son of a well-respected watchmaker
TAG Heuer Monaco Purple Dial Limited Edition (Specs, Price)
TAG Heuer's Monaco series needs no introduction. Among the brand's most iconic collections, it was born in 1969 and given a legendary marketing boost in 1971 when Steve McQueen wore one in the movie, Le Mans. A younger generation probably recognises it from the series Breaking Bad, where Walter White received a Monaco Calibre 12 (ref. CAW2111. FC6183) that was similar to McQueen's original. The latest variant carries an in-house automatic chronograph and eye-catching gradient dial with a new, vibrant colour marking a first for the series.?Meet the TAG Heuer Monaco Purple Dial. The new model is generally the same as recent releases, such as the Monaco Green Dial Calibre Heuer 02 Limited Edition, which introduced a gradient green dial and is among the newest generations to use the Calibre Heuer 02 (first seen in 2019 with the Monaco Heuer 02). Therefore, the square stainless steel case has the same dimensions of 39mm x 39mm (approx. 15mm height) with brushed and polished surfaces. A styli
