First Look: The AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked 150th Anniversary 26585XT
Last year, with the John Mayer limited edition, Audemars Piguet announced the end of its older perpetual calendar movement, the calibre 5134. And indeed, as we have seen with the launch of the next-gen Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Selfwinding, there is now a new and modern calibre 7138. But it’s not entirely the end of the old JLC-derived movement, as AP had one last trick up its sleeve to celebrate its 150th anniversary: an openworked Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar (ref. 26585XT) in a mix of titanium and BMG, using the skeletonized calibre 5135. So yes, the 5134 is gone… but it has managed to survive in a stripped-down version in this new and impressive watch.?The new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked 150th Anniversary is housed in a 41mm wide and 9.9mm thick titanium case, water-resistant to 20m – as all the older-gen RO QPs. The bezel, caseback frame, and bracelet mid-links are crafted from BMG – or Bulk Metallic Glass – an alloy con

The end of the year is near, and we’ll soon be turning the page on 2021, a year of transition and (again) unexpected things. Sure, it was better than 2020 and its constant ups and downs, and sure it has been a great year for MONOCHROME, with the launch of two Montres de Souscription (with Habring2 and Czapek), the addition of new members to the team, and probably the most articles published in a single year. It is rather surprising to see how some items have gained cult status years after their discontinuation, while when they were widely available, almost no one dared to pay attention to them… There are, of course, watches that have been overlooked before they shoot to unexpected fame. One such model is the 1994 “IWC Fliegerchronograph Keramik”, also known as the Pilot’s Chronograph 3705, a watch that faded into obscurity before recently becoming one of the brand’s most collectable youngtimers. Today, the Schaffhausen-based brand pays homage to this cult classic with the new IWC Pilot’s Chronograph Edition “Tribute to 3705” that evokes the past, but also looks at the future. And we have it here today, with a video review! Background, IWC’s Flieger ChronographsIWC is one of the watch manufacturers with the richest history in pilot’s watches. Introducing: Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Recits de Voyage Collection
Vacheron Constantin invites us on an exotic journey of discovery with its latest Les Cabinotiers Rectis de Voyages, unique timepieces that trace the international expansion of the Maison. Following in the founders' footsteps, these unique watches not only touch on geographical areas where Vacheron Constantin blossomed, but they also pay tribute to the distinctive artistic character of these locations. A true showcase of the Maison's commitment to preserving ancestral artistic skills, the beauty of the Recits de Voyages timepieces is never skin deep thanks to Vacheron's extraordinary horological legacy.Minute Repeater Tourbillon Tribute to ArabesqueIn 1817, Vacheron Constantin established ties with Turkey, then the centre of the
