Auction - The Pink Dial Project for Breast Cancer Awareness
Watches and charity… When there’s a good cause, many watch brands don’t hesitate long and donate one of their, often unique, creations. Earlier this year, Wei Koh, founder of Revolution magazine and The Rake, reached out to join forces in order to raise money for breast cancer. He baptized this the Pink Dial Project. Nineteen brands have donated watches and the auction started a few days ago, on October 25th. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the auction to raise funds for Breast Cancer treatment, research and awareness is ending this weekend, on Sunday the 31st of October.?Every two years, we see how watch brands participate and donate for a good cause, with the Only Watch auction. This year, again, the line-up of remarkable, impressive and uber-impressive watches is just mind-boggling. Every two years the Only Watch auction raises millions! In early 2020, Andrew from Time + Tide Watches quickly organized the Watch & Act! auctio
Five Stainless Steel Watches on Matching Bracelets Below 3k - Monochrome Watches
Whenever we compile lists for our weekly Buying Guide, we tend to look at common denominators between watches. One such element can be colour, material, a complication or even a price point. As suggested by one of our readers, we are now looking at sporty-chic watches on stainless steel bracelets priced under EUR 3,000. After doing some digging, we’ve come up with genuinely surprising watches! Let’s dive straight in.Nomos Club Sport Neomatik 39The Nomos Club has long been a success for the Glashutte-based brand for its humble simplicity. But that doesn’t mean it’s a boring one-trick pony, as Nomos has proven the basic design to be quite versatile. The Club Sport Neomatik, for instance, takes the concept in a new direction by adding new sizes, fresh colours and a steel bracelet. Last year, we saw the introduction of a trio of new colours in a new 39mm size. It’s fitted with the in-house produced automatic DUW 3001 Neomatik movement and retails for EUR 2,820
OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Steel 310.20.42.50.01.001 (Specs & Price)
Earlier this year, Omega introduced a new limited edition of the Speedmaster… but not any kind of edition, since this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing and thus, the 50th anniversary of a Speedmaster worn on the wrist of astronauts while walking on the Moon! And while we thought this Moonshine Gold version was the end of the story, we were wrong. So… Say hello to the OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition, in STEEL!In March 2019, Omega presented a (very appealing) limited edition of the Speedmaster to mark the half-century anniversary of the Moonwatch's Lunar landing, with the Moonshine Gold and burgundy Speedy 310.60.42.50.99.001, a watch available in just 1,014 pieces and priced at CHF 32,000 (excl. VAT)… Price apart, the watch was inspired by the vintage reference BA145.022 produced from 1969 to 1973, easily recognizable thanks to its full yellow case/bracelet/dial and its burgundy bezel. The Moonshine gold Omega Speedmaster A
Hands-on with the Montblanc Heritage Spirit Perpetual Calendar with Sapphire Dial (Photos, Price and Specs) - Monochrome Watches
At the 2014 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) Montblanc surprised us all with the introduction of a perpetual calendar that was priced rather?competitively. With perfect classical design,?it looked just like a million bucks, while its price starts at around € 10,000 Euro for the stainless steel version. With that price tag it was simply the most affordable perpetual calendar on the market today. In 18K red gold it is around €17k Euros and now there’s a new version, again in red gold, however with a new dial. That new dial is made of smoked?sapphire crystal it looks absolutely awesome. Let’s have a closer look at the Montblanc Heritage Spirit Perpetual Calendar with Sapphire Crystal Dial. The new Perpetual Calendar with sapphire crystal dial is technically exactly the same as the other models, however every gear, lever, cam, etc is visible for everyone to see (and learn from!). The smoked sapphire crystal dial also shows just how modern a classically styled pe
Hands-on with the De Bethune DB28GS - De Bethune's Newest Sports Watch - Monochrome Watches
De Bethune is known for its groundbreaking technological innovations – the company holds a number of patents – and also for its quite remarkable design. Both the technical aspects, as wel as the aesthetics, can be seen as an eclectic mix of classic Haute Horlogerie and state-of-art futuristic mechanics. Style-wise they probably lean more towards classic and certainly cannot be called sporty. That is, until now. De Bethune now introduces the DB28GS, the sporty one of the collection. In the world of proper high-end watches, there are simply just a handful of sports watches. The vast majority of real high-end watches are either classic dress watches or feature one, two or more complications. And let us immediately make clear that a Panerai or IWC with an in-house movement is?certainly a beautiful watch, however in our book it’s no ‘haute de gamme’, as the French call it. So what De Bethune introduces here is in more than one way a rare timepiece. A true high-e
