A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin 37mm - Germany's perfect dress watch and Lange's new entry-level - Monochrome Watches
At the SIHH 2016, A. Lange & Sohne came with an updated edition of its most elegant and discreet watch, the Saxonia Thin, their vision of a slim and refined dress watch. Following the updates on the entire Saxonia collection (see the 2015 editions), the 2016 Saxonia Thin featured longer indexes and a cleaner dial. All of that was available in a rather large 40mm size and as of now, the thin Lange will also be available with a new case of 37mm, for an even more refined look.?And the best is that when the 40mm is priced over 24,000 USD, this 37mm edition comes for 14,800 USD, becoming Lange’s entry level watch! And now that’s a pretty big deal.The?A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin is visually a very simple watch, which only shows two hands (hours and minutes). The dial is as clean as you can expect from such a watch, with simple applied batons for the indexes and the logo of the brand. However, considering the 40mm diameter, it could be seen as – A – too large
SIHH 2019 - Ulysse Nardin Freak X (Specs & Price)
The Freak watch has been a beloved rock star in the Ulysse Nardin line-up ever since its introduction to the world in 2001. Back then, the flying carrousel watch was an anomaly and many watch lovers were immediately smitten by its complex watchmaking and alluring design. It was also the watch that introduced silicium technology to the world – the Freak was, in 2001, the first watch featuring silicium elements to ever be commercialized. Since then, Ulysse Nardin continues to evolve the Freak. Even last year at SIHH, the brand offered the newest evolution, the Freak Vision, an automatic watch that incorporated a few top technical innovations from the prior year's Innovision 2 Concept watch. Now, Ulysse Nardin takes the beloved hands-free watch to new heights with the Freak X – and to another price category too, as this Freak is even more affordable than the previous Freak Out.The creation of the new timepiece is the result of R&D that required an all-new Manufacture flyin
Hands-On - Chopard L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru (Specs & Price)
While it is commonly?accepted that watches are mainly round – a shape guided by the way time is indicated by hands – exceptions exist. Shaped-watches are not that usual and if some tried, only a few endured. Mastering shapes is something complex, which requires a bit of talent. This year, Chopard is enlarging its L.U.C Collection (the high-end range of the brand) with a montre de forme or form-watch, based on the barrel idea… And indeed, behind this new?Chopard L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru, there’s a certain wine inspiration – and overall?a handsome watch.BackgroundThere are a few things to know about Chopard. The brand was?founded in 1860, in Sonvilier, by Louis-Ulysse Chopard and was originally known for making ladies’ watches and pocket watches. In 1963, the brand became the property of the?Scheufele family (at that time managed by Karl?Scheufele, a watchmaker from Pforzheim, Germany). This family?have owned the company up to the present day, currentl
Introducing: Habring2 Gets Lightning Smart With The Chrono-Felix Top Second
The independent watchmaking duo formed by Richard and Maria Habring, working under the Habring2 name, are close to our hearts for various reasons. First, as you’re probably well aware, because of our first-ever Montre de Souscription and the unique piece we auctioned for charity earlier in the year. Besides that, and probably far more relevant for you all, is the fact Habring2 does things in a very cool, original way. Renowned for the split-seconds chronographs based on the Valjoux 7750 architecture, developed by Richard Habring while working for IWC in the 1990s, the brand is capable of much more. They also like to play around with the seconds indication, as it is one of the few brands to offer both a Jumping Seconds and a high-speed Foudroyante seconds complication. Habring2 now adds a third second-based indication to the collection with the new Chrono-Felix Top Second.?The new Chrono-Felix Top Second next to Erwin shares a similar retro-military look. Before we get into the det

My family comes from the watch industry. We have been manufacturing components (cases and bracelets) for three generations in Italy and Switzerland. I grew up going to the factory.
