Introducing: IWC Pilot Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team
It’s only January, and yet the upcoming 2025 Formula One season is already in the starting blocks. We had the recent announcement of a new official timekeeper, and there are watch-related things to be expected on this side soon. But the first to kick off the F1 watch game this year is IWC, which presents a watch that unsurprisingly looks familiar. Indeed, while being a time-and-date watch, it relies on the same design cues as the Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 Edition Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. Except that now we’re looking at a titanium Mark XX version.?We’ve seen many AMG-themed watches in all the years that the team has been sponsored by IWC. Also, we have to count the dozens of special watches made with pilot Lewis Hamilton, even though this has come to an end, as he’ll soon be driving for Ferrari. But the watch we’re looking at today, just like the chronograph edition of 2022, is a bit special as it’s a so-called team watch and not a watch for
Driving Porsche 911 & 718 Cayman with the Porsche Design 1919 Chronotimer All Titanium on the wrist - Monochrome Watches
Ever since Porsche Design has taken matters more into its own hands, after relying for decades on other watch companies to build watches for them, I'm warming up to the collection even more than before. I've always been a bit of a fan of what these Germans, related to that eponymous car brand, have been doing in the world of watches. The very first titanium chronograph, the very first black wristwatch, and even a watch with a built-in compass. I love it. When Porsche Design launched the 1919 Chronotimer, this time assembled in-house in Solothurn, Switzerland, we immediately asked to do a review of the Porsche Design 1919 Chronotimer on the black rubber strap. Recently I've had the good fortune (read on to find out why) to do another review of that watch, now on the titanium bracelet. It's always hard to explain to friends that, oh sigh, I'm going on yet another trip. Especially when visiting the Formula 1 in Monaco, the America’s Cup in Bermuda, the World Rally Championship in Sar
Just Because: Predictions for the Upcoming Swatch x Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Collaboration
We certainly can’t hide the fact that the Swatch x Omega Moonswatch, a collaboration bringing the style of the Speedmaster Moonwatch into a far more accessible segment of the watch industry, caused a blast. Seeing the success of this collaboration, with over 1 million examples sold in 2022, despite some issues regarding availability, it was somehow expected to see a new chapter coming. And it is just around the corner. On September 9th, 2023, we will see the Swatch x Blancpain collaboration. This part is 100% certain, as confirmed by both brands on Instagram. The model to be used as a base makes almost no doubt either; it will almost certainly be a Fifty Fathoms. What will be the beating heart and what it’ll look like are the real questions. So we’ve decided to create the Swatch x Blancpain Fifty Fathoms watches we’d love to see coming on the market. And yes, these are mechanical.? Above are the teasers released by Swatch and Blancpain. Introducing: Ulysse Nardin Freak X Enamel Seddiqi
In 2019, Ulysse Nardin introduced the Freak X, an entry-level to the innovative and convention-breaking Freak series, maintaining the brand’s “no-dial, no-hands” design, showcasing its signature flying carousel construction within the newly developed UN 230 movement. Though simpler than the original Freak and featuring a crown, the Freak X retained the DNA of its iconic predecessor and became popular. Since its debut, Ulysse Nardin has released several variations, experimenting with different case materials and movement plate decorations, as in the Aventurine, Razzle Dazzle, and Silicium Marquetry editions. Now, to celebrate its partnership with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons – a Middle East’s luxury watch retailer – Ulysse Nardin unveils the limited-edition Freak X Enamel with an hour disc adorned with traditional guilloche and enamel, adding another layer to the Freak X collection.?The new Freak X Enamel features a 50m water-resistant case crafted from g
