Pre-SIHH 2018 - Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Re-edition 25th Anniversary 26237ST Hands-On (Specs & Price)
Throughout its long history, Audemars Piguet has notched up many bold moves. Of course, we all remember the 1972 Royal Oak, a Genta-designed watch that simply revolutionized the concept of the luxury watch. Another of these bold moves should also not be forgotten. Back in 1993, Audemars Piguet presented an evolution of the Royal Oak, a highly-masculine version named the Offshore – a watch that would once again create a trend which would later spread throughout the rest of the industry. To celebrate the 25th anniversary?of this modern icon, the Le Brassus-based brand presents, as Pre-SIHH 2018 novelties, two new ROO watches, including this retro-inspired Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Re-edition 25th Anniversary Ref. 26237ST. Slightly vintage, highly iconic. Background – the birth of the “Offshore”Before explaining the?Royal Oak Offshore, we have to quickly go back to 1972, when?Audemars Piguet first introduced the Royal Oak 5402ST. Indie Watchmaking - Hands-On Cedric Johner Abyss Chronograph
Stepping into Cedric Johner's modestly sized workshop in Carouge in the outskirts of Geneva is a unique experience. Inside you will find an eclectic mix of old tools and hand-operated machines as the independent watchmaker started his career as a jeweller. With this background, Johner is a versatile artisan with a very personal way of looking at traditional mechanical watchmaking, using original techniques and crafts to make his watches by himself, in very small numbers, with a highly personal design. And the Cedric Johner Abyss Chronograph 30th Anniversary, equipped with a superb version of the Valjoux 23, is a typical example of his work. To celebrate 30 years of independent watchmaking, Cedric Johner has started a 30-piece limited edition based on his signature Abyss case in a chronograph version. The beautiful hand-wound, column-wheel chronograph movement found in this limited-edition Abyss is a refinished old-stock Valjoux 23 calibre. The origins of the lege
Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo Small Seconds - Review, Price
Longines' archive is the envy of many watchmaking brands, a rich source of material to furnish the highly popular and ever-expanding Heritage collection. Earlier this year, Longines produced two Heritage Classic Tuxedo models that stole our hearts with their stylish two-tone, black-tie looks. We've reviewed the Classic Tuxedo Chronograph, so now we'll take a closer look at the less complex, but perhaps even more attractive three-hand Classic Tuxedo Small Seconds.?Design SourceWith its 188-year history, Longines will never be short of vintage models to inspire re-editions in its Heritage collection. This year alone we've seen the bronze Legend Diver, the Avigation Type A-7 1935 and even the?Military Marine Nationale join the Heritage Collection. However, if given a choice, I would choose the Classic Tuxedo Small Seconds without a second thought. Based on a 1945 two-tone model from its archives, the Tuxedo Small Seconds is actually closer in spirit to an Art Deco design. Ad -

This latest version of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph in a pink gold case with a blue dial exudes a warmer and more luxurious vibe than other models in the current line-up. Admittedly, there is another pink gold model in the collection, but it has a more demure silver dial and just two strap options. This stunning Overseas Chronograph comes with?Vacheron Constantin‘s impressively finished bracelet in solid pink gold and two additional straps allowing you to dress it up or down, according to the occasion. Equipped with the in-house integrated chronograph calibre 5200, this 2022 Overseas Chronograph retains all the specifications of former models but cuts a dash in its handsome pink gold and navy suit.Third GenerationVacheron’s Overseas collection has a fascinating history. When it surfaced in 1977 for the brand’s 222 anniversary, it quickly established itself as the third member of the holy trinity of luxury sports watches (AP and PP). You can read all ab
