Introducing: The Return of the Gerald Genta-Designed Credor Locomotive
Gerald Genta is surely mostly known for his work with Audemars Piguet (1972, Royal Oak), Patek Philippe (Nautilus, 1976) or his own bold and original creations. There is, however, much more to the man than just these two icons of the luxury sports watch category (think Universal Geneve Polerouter, Omega Constellation or King Midas). Lesser known is his work in Japan, and in particular, a watch designed in 1979, with most of the traits of a classic sporty-chic watch with a bracelet, the Credor Locomotive. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Seiko-owned high-end watchmaker, the Credor Locomotive is now back as a luxurious and automatic titanium limited edition, the reference GCCR999. 1979 Seiko Credor Locomotive Genta’s design sketch for the Locomotive Credor was born in 1974, as a higher-end and more luxurious take on Japanese watchmaking. While Grand Seiko can be seen as the technical and precision-oriented side of the Group, Credor is its high-e
IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph IW377724 With New Dial (Specs & Price)
In 2017, IWC took us by surprise when presenting the desirable, vintage-inspired and definitely cool?Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII Edition Tribute to Mark XI. Now, it’s time for the Schaffhausen-based brand to focus on the chronograph version of this watch and to apply the same recipe: baton hands, faux-patine markers, cleaner dial and fabric strap. And if the 3-hander was mimicking the Mark XI, the new?IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph IW377724 is reminiscent of one of the coolest 1990s watches, the?Fliegerchronograph ref. 3706.The?Fliegerchronograph 3705 and 3706 are important watches in IWC’s history, as they marked the comeback of the brand in the field of mechanical pilot watches. Over 20 years ago, these 39mm watches, with Valjoux-based chonograph movements were a sort of renaissance of the proper tool watch and for this reason, they are some of the coolest “young-timers” we can think of. And guess what? IWC has decided to create a watch that looks like these
Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition (Specs & Price)
A couple of days ago, Omega announced a new edition of its Seamaster Diver 300M. Not just a new colour scheme, but a watch with solid environmental conservation credentials that reflects Omega's support of the Nekton foundation. A leading UK not-for-profit association, Nekton is committed to protecting our oceans by accelerating scientific exploration. The new Seamaster Nekton Edition comes with a black ceramic dial, is fitted with Omega's Master Chronometer calibre and features a special engraving on the caseback to celebrate its partnership with Nekton. Available in two formats, with an integrated steel bracelet or a black rubber strap, the Nekton Editions stand out from other Seamaster Diver 300M models with their matte, monochromatic look. And, in yet another departure from most of the regular models in the line-up, the Nekton Editions do not have a date window.Brief background Seamaster and NektonThe Seamaster Professional 300M – originally available with a quartz or an auto
Face to Face with Omega: A Tour Revealing the Past, Present and Future of the Company - Part 1 - Monochrome Watches
Baselworld is complete madness. It's difficult to comprehend the sheer size of the fair when you hear it from someone, and it’s a totally different thing to experience it personally. This year the Monochrome team cunningly decided to split forces and covered almost everything with battle hardened Frank accompanied by Brice and Robin. My role was to dig a little deeper. Taking advantage of my free role assigned by the Mono-HQ I decided to cover one of the most important players in the Swiss horological industry, Omega. Sure, it's very nice to cover the new releases and the hottest offerings in Baselworld but it's also extremely satisfactory to be able to lay back and visit key installations that reveal to me the past, present and a glimpse of the near future. So, sit back and enjoy the tour.¦¸ The BrandA Few Words About Its Course Through TimeMany and rightly so, consider Omega one of the most important players in the industry. During the 20th Century many important people from all

Here is the last of our series about the Omega Speedmaster. For this one we’re going to show you some highly rare and limited editions of the ‘Speedy’, including a real Astronaut watch! In our two first articles, we’ve been explaining you how all about the early pre-moons and how the Speedmaster became the Moonwatch and then showed you some very cool 1970s editions and the premises of the Alaska Project. Some of them are?very rare birds, but coming from the serial?production. Now we’re moving to the limited production, and not the worst one to be true. The Apollo XI commemorative seriesThe Speedmaster has been produced in many limited, numbered or commemorative editions. However, one of this editions is more famous and highly collectible, the Apollo XI: the series that pays tribute to the largest achievement of the Speedy, when the Eagle' landed on the Moon, the 20th July 1969. Thus, it became the Moonwatch. The whole collection of the Speedmaster Apollo XI
