40mm or 35mm...? The Two Sizes Of The Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 Compared
To say that the Tissot PRX is a success would be an understatement. It is a massive hit, and for obvious reasons. Besides the overall very decent quality of the watch, combined with an accessible price, it’s mostly its style that made it so popular… The flair of the 1970s, the luxury sports watch look, the integrated design, a powerful and reliable movement and the resemblance with some of the most iconic watches (but clearly unattainable) of the category. It has it all. But the only mechanical option, up until recently, was undoubtedly on the large side. Problem (partially…) solved, as we now have the new Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 35mm. Is it perfect? Which model should you choose? We compare the 35mm and 40mm Tissot PRX to help you decide. Spoiler alert: it’ll be a hard choice! For many years, the concept of the luxury sports watch – refined, high-end watches (mostly) in stainless steel with a matching and integrated steel bracelet and thin movements, as f
Chopard L.U.C Chrono One Flyback Steel // Review, Price
A smaller case, a more contemporary design and a chronometer-certified manufacture movement inside; there's a lot to like about the new monochromatic Chopard L.U.C Chrono One Flyback. Not to mention the fact that this model is offered in steel – albeit in a limited edition of only 250 pieces. Given that previous iterations have only been available in precious metals - and larger cases - I wouldn't be surprised if this new flyback chronograph proves to be quite popular. We had the opportunity to get some wrist time with it recently. Here's what we thought.?The Chopard L.U.C Chrono One FlybackYou may or may not recall the previous iterations of the L.U.C Chrono One Flyback. Here's some basic background to provide a basis for comparison. As I mentioned before, those models were exclusively available in precious metals, such as rose or pink gold and offered more traditional styling. Think Roman numeral dials, two-tone colour schemes and 44mm cases. Very nice watches but a bit strong
The Affordable But Greatly Executed Orient Bambino 38 (Price)
The Bambino has been one of the best-selling collections of Japanese watchmaker Orient for years. Introduced a few weeks ago, the new versions of the model stand out with their more compact case – 38.4mm versus 40.5mm previously. We had been quite intrigued by the looks and specs of this automatic dress watch retailing at just EUR 275. So we thought we would ask for a model to review And, without making too much noise, it's typically a watch that looks and feels far more expensive than what it actually costs! You'll often hear the concept of “value proposition” when talking about accessible watches. It's a bit of a complex term, as for instance the Seamaster 300M Diver Master Chronometer can be considered one when looking at everything it offers considering its price. The notion of price is relative, of course, but in the context of truly affordable mechanical watches, serious alternatives are basically worst-kept secrets. Seiko with the past-generation 5 Series and th

Hank Aaron’s impact transcended baseball.? ? G
Opinion - The 35mm PRX that Tissot refuses to give us
Tissot started out with a 40mm size PRX, and it was good. Then came more colour variants, and they were good. After that came luxurious fluted gold bezels, and they were pricey but still good. This was followed by a PRX Chronograph, which was very good! But then… nothing? Ever since Tissot launched the incredible platform that is the PRX, there has been a public outcry to introduce a smaller, more compact mechanical version, next to the smaller quartz-powered model. And it’s finally here! Albeit not exactly how any of us might have expected it to be, since it comes with a gold bezel and diamond-studded dial. So what gives Tissot? Why won’t you give us what we all want… A classic-looking PRX Automatic 35mm with a waffle-like dial. The Tissot PRX is a smash-hit for sure, as it combines that cool 1970s retro vibe with all the key elements of a really good luxury sports watch with integrated design. And it does so at an impossible-to-ignore price point, and with a pr
