Video - New Watches of A. Lange & Sohne Presented By Wilhelm Schmid
Live from Watches And Wonders 2022, we talk to Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Sohne, who will present the brand’s latest creation and the theme for the 2022 collection. There were 3 main launches this year for ALS, starting with the new, redesigned, slimmer and slightly bolder Grand Lange 1, with a grained grey dial and ultra-thin case in white or pink gold. Second is the highly surprising titanium Odysseus, a watch with a new light blue/grey dial, new dial structure and mostly, a case and bracelet fully executed in matte-finished titanium. Last but not least, Wilhelm Schmid will introduce to us the new Richard Lange Minute Repeater, a highly classic yet technical chiming piece, with an entirely new in-house movement with several patents and an in-house made grand feu enamel dial, a first for A. Lange & Sohne. For more details about the new collection, check our video on top of the article or visit www.alange-soehne.com. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Portrait: Yvan Arpa, Founder of ArtyA, a Manufacture of Emotions
Atypical careers in watchmaking are rare, if not exceptional. Most of today’s watchmakers work to the mandates of marketing and Excel spreadsheets and tend to be conventional and conformist. There are, however, some rare exceptions and Yvan Arpa, founder of ArtyA, is one of them. Flamboyant and unpredictable, unfiltered and out of the ordinary, just like his career. You be the judge. The man who lives by the mantra of “authenticity” and whose watchmaking creations have taken the world by storm was originally a maths teacher but quit after two years to travel. This martial arts enthusiast and karate expert found himself practising Thai boxing at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium before heading off to New Guinea, which he crossed on foot. Introducing: IWC Pilot Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team
It’s only January, and yet the upcoming 2025 Formula One season is already in the starting blocks. We had the recent announcement of a new official timekeeper, and there are watch-related things to be expected on this side soon. But the first to kick off the F1 watch game this year is IWC, which presents a watch that unsurprisingly looks familiar. Indeed, while being a time-and-date watch, it relies on the same design cues as the Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 Edition Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. Except that now we’re looking at a titanium Mark XX version.?We’ve seen many AMG-themed watches in all the years that the team has been sponsored by IWC. Also, we have to count the dozens of special watches made with pilot Lewis Hamilton, even though this has come to an end, as he’ll soon be driving for Ferrari. But the watch we’re looking at today, just like the chronograph edition of 2022, is a bit special as it’s a so-called team watch and not a watch for
