Hands-On: The New Hublot Big Bang Integrated Automatic Tourbillon Full Carbon Texalium
In physics, the Big Bang signals the beginning of time; in watchmaking, it is synonymous with Hublot‘s eponymous collection. Imploding on the scene in 2005, the Hublot Big Bang was designed to shock and awe with its large loud cases fusing state-of-the-art materials. Fusion is the operative word again as the Big Bang steps up the action with a micro-rotor and tourbillon staged inside an ultra-lightweight carbon fibre and Texalium case with an integrated strap that looks uncannily like a metallic bracelet. Similar to the Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Full Sapphire of 2021, the Hublot Big Bang Integrated Tourbillon Full Texalium-Carbon (yup, it’s a mouthful) is a powerful mix of old and new combining in-house horological weight with a radically resistant yet lightweight composite.Lightweight yet toughThe striking interwoven texture of the 43mm case, with its thickness of 14.15mm, is produced using carbon fibre. Renowned for its resilience and lightness, the carbon fibre case w
Dan Spitz, From Heavy Metal To High-End Watchmaking
I have always been fascinated by people capable of reinventing themselves. Talent can morph into the most unexpected directions. If you are into music, you are probably familiar with Anthrax, one of the most successful groups of the heavy metal scene. The man who has been their lead guitarist for years, Dan Spitz, has decided to undergo a reconversion and He's now a watchmaker! Making the transition from high-voltage rock to indie watchmaking neither happens overnight nor by chance.Spitz originally left Anthrax to become a watchmaker in the 1990s, joining the Bulova school of watchmaking in New York (a 4-year degree) and then the prestigious Wostep in Neuchatel, Switzerland. But he actually started taking apart movements when he was eight years old in his grandfather’s watch and jewellery store. He likes to describe himself as a third-generation watchmaker Spitz is also someone who pushes the limits in everything he undertakes. For what is our main concern, it translated into hig
Tudor Pelagos LHD 25610TNL Left-Handed - Review (Live Photos, Price)
After several collections based on the Heritage Black Bay, Tudor Watches gets back into the game of the rugged, professional-oriented and modern watches with a new version of its tool watch: the Pelagos. After a first version introduced in 2012, with a black dial, followed by a revamp in 2015, with the addition of a blue dial and the introduction of the manufacture movement, the Pelagos is back again, this time in a variation that worthy of the title “the coolest”. Please say hello to the Tudor Pelagos LHD 25610TNL, or the lefty version with cream indexes and red “Pelagos” printing. The concept of the left-handed watch isn’t new to Tudor. This?Tudor Pelagos LHD is a actually a nod to the past, paying tribute to a watch made for the French navy in 1961, the Tudor 9401 left-hand, with a black dial and snowflake hands (you can see the link already…). Back then some of the left-handed divers reported issues when wearing the watch on their left arm and so

Oris Aquis Date 39.5mm Green Dial (Specs & Price)
The Oris Aquis Date needs no introduction anymore. It is one of those relatively affordable automatic watches that we often cover, here at MONOCHROME. Performing both at the office or at the beach, the recent facelift operated by Oris gave this watch an even more desirable look, without jeopardising its diving capacities. Usually spotted in a large 43.5mm diameter, there’s another smaller option available – which we’ll call more user-friendly. And today this model gets a trendy new dial. Meet the Oris Aquis Date 39.5mm now with a Green Dial.As mentioned, the Aquis Date is a no-brainer for anyone seeking an accessible yet robust dive watch with a Swiss automatic movement, a protected case but enough elegance for daily use. Previously just a no-nonsense tool watch with only its diving capacities in mind, the evolution undertaken in 2017, when the watch was facelifted, added a small hint of elegance to this model – redesigned indexes and hands, new colours, differe
