Pre-SIHH 2019 - Girard-Perregaux Laureato Perpetual Calendar (Specs & Price)
The?Laureato, since its introduction at the SIHH 2017, has been a great success for?Girard-Perregaux and had allowed it to get?back into the ultra-competitive and oh-so-trendy market of the luxury sports watch. Already existing in an array of models (3-hand, chronograph, tourbillon, skeleton, full ceramic), the brand continues the expansion of this collection by now looking at traditional complications. As a preview of what is to come at the SIHH 2019, meet the new?Girard-Perregaux Laureato Perpetual Calendar, in sporty steel attire. This watch is clearly intended to compete with the AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar and the PP Nautilus 5740G. However, as with the rest of the Laureato collection, this new Perpetual Calendar version is a slightly more “accessible” offering (relatively speaking, of course). That doesn’t mean shortcuts either, as the movement in this watch has great arguments and the design, thanks to an original display, makes a statement. Ad -
Pre Baselworld 2014: Introducing the Bvlgari Octo Chrono - Monochrome Watches
Fifteen years ago, in 1999, luxury brand Bvlgari bought Gerald Genta’s watch company and until this day they manufacture watches and introduce new watches, which are (heavily) inspired on Genta’s designs. Just like the Octo Automatic, which was introduced last year, and so is the new Octo Chrono that we can introduce to you today. A bold and rugged design – typical Genta – and it features a magnificent El Primero column-wheel chronograph movement. The press release calls the new Octo a combination of Italian genius and Swiss perfection. All we can say, is that Bvlgari did a good job in merging Genta’s design into a contemporary chic sports chronograph. With a movement like the El Primero, you simply can’t go wrong. The strong characteristic lines of the Octo Chronograph’s design on the other hand, will probably be more polarizing, but that’s exactly what Genta’s design often did. Introducing the Smoky Green Santos De Cartier MM & LM Models
Revamped entirely in 2018, with a sportier design and a clever set of interchangeable straps and bracelet, the Santos de Cartier (not to be confused with its more elegant sister, the Santos-Dumont) has been first launched, classically, with silver dials, and in Large Model (LM) and Medium Model (MM), both powered by automatic movements. Then followed a cool gradient blue dial, and bold versions mixing steel and rubber, either in black or in blue. This year, the Santos de Cartier will have a new edition, and be prepared, we might look at possibly the coolest edition so far. Here are the Smoky Green Santos LM and MM.On the side of the specs, nothing changes. The Santos de Cartier is still the sports watch with a French touch, typical of Cartier, yet with a more robust twist. And there’s still the super practical QuickSwitch?interchangeability system, as the two editions come with a steel bracelet and a green alligator strap as standard. The steel bracelet also features the SmartLin
IWC Mark XII Saab Limited Edition on the Day that Saab Starts Production Again - Monochrome Watches
When I wrote about the IWC Mark XII Saab ‘Mellow Yellow’ a few years ago, nobody could have suspected that Saab would start up production again. Well, today they started up production in the Saab factories in Trollh?ttan, Sweden. As an avid Saab driver, this makes a perfectly good reason to celebrate this with my own IWC Mark XII Saab.As an avid Saab driver – I’ve owned quite a few 900 classics and several 9-3’s – I couldn’t resist when I saw a used IWC Mark XII Saab for sale, earlier this year. I had actually been looking for one for several years, but as these things go, available budget and a good one, complete with all boxes and papers, for sale, somehow never “aligned”. As I previously wrote, that watch could well become the only Saab that holds its value and when looking at today’s market prices it looks like my prediction is still correct. The Cuervo y Sobrinos Robusto Churchill Limited Edition honors the man and his predilection for Havana tobacco. The Latin roots of? Swiss watch manufacturer Cuervo y Sobrinos shine through in almost the entire portfolio of watches.
