The SIHH to welcome 9 creative & Independent Manufactures - Monochrome-Watches
Until now, the SIHH, the watch fair held in January, was known to be a very luxurious exhibition that almost exclusively focuses on the Richemont Group brands. The FHH (Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie), host of the SIHH, just decided to change the format, first by bringing a new architectural concept, but mainly by adding to the list of the exhibiting maisons 9 independent watchmakers – and not the worst ones to be honest.Until now, the SIHH or Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, was hosted the Geneva-based watch fair for 16 brands. 12 of them are owned by the Richemont Group – A. Lange & Sohne, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Panerai, Piaget, Roger Dubuis, Van Cleef & Arpels and Vacheron Constantin (plus Ralph Lauren watches that is operated by Richemont). In addition to?them, 4 other very high-end manufactures were present: Audemars Piguet, Greubel Forsey?(Richemont owns shares),?Parmigiani Fleurier, and Richard Mille.
Weekly Watch Photo - Hautlence HL05 - Monochrome Watches
When it comes to extremely beautiful photos of beautiful watches, it is like with almost everything else in the world. Someone started, another person liked the idea and started doing something similar and slowly more and more starting doing the same. Not exactly the same of course and that’s a good thing, because every photographer – professional or talented amateur – has his/her own style. When I think back I can only think of two persons who frequently amazed watch enthusiast with their brilliant photos, online that is!I can actually only think of two who shared their brilliant photos online and they were actually the first to start something that we’ve grown accustomed to. Now-a-days we’re treated with the visual watch candy shot by star photographers – like Guy Lucas de Peslouan, Ming Thein and Mike Melia – and others like Watch Anish or extremely talented amateurs like Edwin Heusinkveld, Marcus Behnke, Gary Getz and others. These two pers
Revolution Online's Cartier forum started one year ago today - Monochrome Watches
Usually it’s no ‘biggy’ when a forum exists one year, however we from Monochrome have become fan of the Cartier forum at Revolution Online. To celebrate this we listed our favorite posts for you!Revolution Online’s Cartier forum is a magnificent place where you can read and learn a lot about the brand. Most people think of the Tank Francaise or Santos 100 when talking about Cartier watches, as well as old Tank ‘vermeille’. It was Cartier moderator GEO, who tought me there is soooo much more to Cartier’s watch history. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Cartier has an incredible rich history when it comes to watches. Not only the gorgeous Collection Prive Cartier Paris (or CPCP) that was replaced by the Fine Watchmaking Collection. Some even say that Cartier made the very first wrist watch ever, with the Santos Dumont.G
Review New Panerai Luminor Perpetual Calendar Platinumtech PAM00715
When you think Panerai, you’ll probably have in mind a cushion-shaped watch with diving capacities, an oversized case, a sandwich dial and a relatively simple yet powerful movement, with barely any complications to display. And rightfully so, as this is the basic concept of the brand, found under the classic Luminor or Radiomir collections. Yet, the Florentine brand has demonstrated in past years that it could also go into complications, such as chronographs, the always-questionable equation of time or even tourbillons. One complication that the brand has barely even touched through its history (I say barely because there’s one example to be found) is the perpetual calendar, otherwise a classic for the industry. Surprisingly, it’s only in 2021 that this will come in the collection, with the new Panerai Luminor Perpetual Calendar Platinumtech PAM00715 we have here, and its new in-house movement.?You can search deep into the brand’s history and you’ll only f
All you need to know about Dive Watches - Monochrome Watches
Paris, 1867 – The Rouquayrol-Denayrouze diving apparatus wins a gold medal at the Universal exhibition. Among the visitors of the international exhibition was Jules Verne. A few months later, he incorporated this diving apparatus in his novel 20000 Leagues Under The Sea, as part of the equipment of the Nautilus divers. At that time, watches were protected against shocks, dust or moisture by being placed in the breast pocket of jackets. However, in the late 19th?century, watches started to be worn on the wrist, principally for military use (before the fashion spread). Strapped to the arm, watches became exposed to all manner of hazards. The need for hermetically sealed watches, resistant to the ingress of dust and water, became a necessity, thus speeding the evolution of the waterproof watch. Later, in 1942/1943, Emile Gagnan and Jacques-Yves Cousteau worked on the Aqualung, the first Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (a.k.a. SCUBA), to reach worldwide commercial succe
