Ulysse Nardin Freak X Bucherer BLUE (Specs & Price)
With its numerous joint creations, Bucherer BLUE has given birth to a series of truly unique and disruptive timepieces. Think about the IWC Portugieser, the Panerai Luminor Marina or the Oris Sixty-Five Chronograph. The most recent member in this BLUE collection was created with Ulysse Nardin and is a true horological UFO. Meet the new Freak X Bucherer BLUE.In the early 1980s, the encounter between Rolf W. Schnyder, a businessman and visionary, and Ludwig Oechslin, a brilliant horologist, turned Ulysse Nardin into one of the most innovative watch brands in town. This partnership would yield several milestones in mechanical watchmaking history. Among these, the legendary Freak housing the innovative dual direct escapement with silicon escapement wheels. With it, Ulysse Nardin not only became the pioneer of silicon in mechanical watchmaking but developed a new escapement (which remains a crowning glory for the most skilful and creative watchmakers) beating at the heart of a complex and a
Meet The Makers - Casa Fagliano, Boot-Maker And Strap-Maker for Jaeger-LeCoultre
There are many reasons we love watches. For some it's their design, for others it's their historical significance. What really caught my imagination, when I received my grandfather's 1960s Omega Constellation on my 21st birthday, was that somebody had actually sat at a workbench and assembled this micro-machine by hand. It blew my mind. Since then I've had an unrelenting appreciation for all things made by hand. My admiration only grew, as we dive deeper into a digital world where more often than not we can do things quicker and cheaper. But artisans do things for the passion, not the speed or price. They opt to do it the way it's always been done for the pride in the work. And I love that. In the first instalment of our new series: Meet The Makers, I had the privilege of sitting down with the man at the helm of legendary Argentina bootmaker, Germ¨¢n Fagliano. Enjoy. Can you tell us little about Fagliano and your history as a maker? Our Family comes from Cuneo, in the Piedmont?region (nor
Introducing The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Monobalancier Titanium
Roger Dubuis' Excalibur line takes inspiration from the Arthurian legend and, since 2005, has been a flagship collection for the Geneva-based brand. Appearing with a recreation of King Arthur's Round Table, complete with miniature sculpted knights, the Excalibur has always felt comfortable about stripping off and showing off its avant-garde skeletonised mechanics. The latest Excalibur Monobalancier, fitted in full titanium armour, delivers a powerful visual punch yet remains physically light on the wrist. The dramatic skeletonisation of the improved in-house automatic movement, with its star-shaped bridge and endless vistas, is signature Roger Dubuis and bears the Poin?on de Geneve hallmark.Full metalMarking the first all-titanium version of its Excalibur Monobalancier, the 100m water-resistant case has a diameter of 42mm and the bracelet, notched bezel, crown and caseback of the Excalibur MC are crafted in grade 5 titanium with a matte metallic sheen. With its brightly polished bevels
Bamford x Time+Tide GMT2 Watch - Introducing, Price
In addition to new models designed and launched directly by brands, one of the growing trends in the watchmaking industry (but also in the luxury industry in general) is the concept of collaborations. It can be with the involvement of a sportsman, an external designer, a brand from another field and, as you’ve probably seen with Revolution, Fratello or Hodinkee, a collaboration between a watch brand and a magazine. Latest in line are our Australian friends of Time+Tide – which you might remember from their great WATCH & ACT! initiative. And for their first self-designed watches, they’ve decided to team up with Bamford.I say watches because the Aussie magazine has launched two different watches, the GMT1 and GMT2. However, the first model was limited to 50 pieces and is already sold out. So today, we’ll focus only on the one that is available and that you’ll be able to order, the Bamford x Time+Tide GMT2 Watch. The watch in question should be no stranger
