Interview - Catherine Renier, CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre, during SIHH 2019
Jaeger-LeCoultre or “La Grande Maison” has, just like some of its sister brands inside the Richemont Group, seen some changes at its head recently. A new CEO, Catherine Renier (previously at?Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels), often means a new strategy. Rather discreet until now, we thought the SIHH 2019 was the right time to talk to her about what’s new for 2019, what’s to come in the coming years and what Mrs?Renier’s background in the jewellery industry could bring to a very horological manufacture.?What is the predominant theme at Jaeger-LeCoultre this year and your overall strategy for 2019? Ad - Scroll to continue with article The theme for this year's salon revolves around the art of precision: the precision of technical innovation, as illustrated by the New Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpetuel, and
Hands-on with the Montblanc Heritage Spirit Perpetual Calendar with Sapphire Dial (Photos, Price and Specs) - Monochrome Watches
At the 2014 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) Montblanc surprised us all with the introduction of a perpetual calendar that was priced rather?competitively. With perfect classical design,?it looked just like a million bucks, while its price starts at around € 10,000 Euro for the stainless steel version. With that price tag it was simply the most affordable perpetual calendar on the market today. In 18K red gold it is around €17k Euros and now there’s a new version, again in red gold, however with a new dial. That new dial is made of smoked?sapphire crystal it looks absolutely awesome. Let’s have a closer look at the Montblanc Heritage Spirit Perpetual Calendar with Sapphire Crystal Dial. The new Perpetual Calendar with sapphire crystal dial is technically exactly the same as the other models, however every gear, lever, cam, etc is visible for everyone to see (and learn from!). The smoked sapphire crystal dial also shows just how modern a classically styled pe
Introducing: The Biver Automatique Yellow Gold & Atelier Series Carbon Edition
In 2023, Jean-Claude Biver, an industry veteran who requires no introduction, returned to the spotlight after retiring from his latest position at LVMH when, with his son Pierre, he unveiled the Biver Carillon Tourbillon, the debut timepiece from the newly minted family-name brand. True to form, expectations were sky-high, with the launch setting a tone in technical complexity and price points. In 2024, Biver father and son surprised enthusiasts with something a little more understated but no less refined: the time-only Automatique, an elegant yet not-so-classic model available in platinum and rose gold with matching dials and powered by a micro-rotor calibre developed by Dubois-Depraz. It debuted alongside the Atelier Series, featuring stone dials. Now, the collection continues to expand. Biver is introducing yellow gold editions of the Automatique, including a version with a yellow gold dial and a new Atelier Series Carbon Edition, with a dial crafted from, you guessed it, carbon fibr
Introducing the edgy Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 (Specs & Price)
Oris has a long history in the field of pilot’s watches, starting with the Oris Big Crown, introduced in 1938. Even today, Oris produces classically styled pilot’s watches based on the original Big Crown, and more modern interpretations in the Big Crown ProPilot collection. We’ve seen a myriad of these robust, highly legible watches introduced in the ProPilot line, including the bold 2019 ProPilot X, which now receives the brand’s latest generation of in-house made movements. This is the Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400.The ProPilot X style has a much edgier, more angular and contemporary look and feel compared to the regular ProPilot. The full titanium case measures 39mm in diameter and has a sharp, faceted shape. This style was first introduced in the Oris ProPilot X Calibre 115, with a skeletonized dial and movement. The case has a distinct knurled bezel and an oversized screw-down crown with crown guards. The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with ant
