Frank Geelens Top 10 of the SIHH 2017
The SIHH 2017 ended?already a few weeks ago, and our own Xavier an Brice already shared their favorites of this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. In the mean time I’ve been busy, among others with a trip to the far north of Finland with Porsche and Porsche Design. While drifting on ice with a host?of 911’s, I got?to experience how perfectly both brands match, and I got?a lot of hands-on time with the 1919 Chronograph that Porsche Design introduced at Baselworld last year. Later more about that, but now it’s time to list my top 10 watches from the SIHH.It was a rather interesting year with many new models being offered at more competitive pricing; the financial crisis, new anti-corruption?laws?in China and the Swiss Franc and Euro exchange rate being disconnected, certainly inspired brands to act on pricing. Another interesting topic, is that the sports watch segment just became more interesting with a lot of new models from Montblanc, Girard-Per
Buying Guide - 5 Cool Vintage-Inspired Watches of 2017
Vintage is one of the biggest trends these days… Really, what a piece of news! We all know that brands have been?widely surfing on the vintage / heritage / reissue trend?for over 10 years now. However, in the middle of the dozens of vintage-inspired watches launched every year, there are some good ones, ones you really need to consider. Here are 5 of the coolest vintage-inspired watches of 2017?that will help you look good this summer.Note: there’s a difference between vintage-reissue and vintage-inspired. The first one basically mimics an existing watch, by copy-pasting all the elements (which is in fact quite rare). The second category implies watches that use elements from the past, mixed with modern specifications, such as a larger diameter, modern automatic movement or contemporary display – this has been for instance the recipe used by Tudor with the Heritage line-up.Seiko Prospex Diver SPB053 Inspired by the 62MasIf money is one of your concerns – which c

The Gleam of Architectural Achievement: The JEANRICHARD Terrascope Reviewed - Monochrome Watches
In New York City you can spot a tourist. No, not by his campy t-shirt, fanny pack or outrageous shoes; the sure-fire tell of a tourist is a craned neck, positioned so he can stop and stare upward at a skyscraper. Pointing his finger, the interloper exclaims, Hey, look! It's the Empire State building. You might think he was gazing on the eighth wonder of the world, mesmerized by the building's design, the brilliance of the sun's reflection off its surface or the colossal scale rising before him.Don't be surprised if your Terrascope garners the same reaction: Hey, look at that watch! Like a tourist stopped in his tracks, we spent the last month gawking at the JEANRICHARD black dial Terrascope. We have shared JR's aerial affinity in our articles about their Aeroscope collection, the Neroscope and our interview with captain Sully; but here, JEANRICHARD looks to the earth in their Terrascope collection, and we, with both feet on the ground, consider a terrestrial watch built for King Kong.
Ever Wanted To Own A Championship-Winning Ferrari F1 Car? Now's Your Chance!
There was a time in Formula 1 racing where not one, not two, not three but pretty much half the field had the talent and material to compete for race wins, and thus the championship. During the 1970s, a time that’s considered the golden age of F1 racing, many stars rose to the top. Think of names like Gilles Villeneuve, Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, James Hunt and so on. But not just drivers became icons of the sport, individual cars had the tendency to do so as well! A lot of people will fondly recall the John Player Special Lotus cars, the Marlboro-sponsored McLarens, or the blue Matras and Tyrrells of the day. And whenever Formula 1 is the topic at hand, Ferrari is never far away. Even today, such stand-out names and achievements vividly resonate with fans of the sport. And luck would have it, you have a chance to own actual F1 racing history, as 12 cars owned and raced by the 1979 F1 World Driver’s Champion Jody Scheckter are coming up
