In Conversation with Dan Henry Watches // Interview
Some stories are more fascinating than others. With most microbrands that are (successfully or not) launching, there's very often the same pitch; at the beginning, a passion for watches and later the wish to create something that couldn't be found on the market. We've heard that many times, true story or not. But with Dan Henry, things are more genuine, more tangible. If you wonder if Dan has a passion for watches, the answer is a big YES. And that can clearly be felt in the watches that this avid collector (of some of the finest vintage watches) produces under the brand Dan Henry Watches. And today, we talk with the man to understand why and how things started – and how it continued.Erik Slaven, MONOCHROME – You’re an avid collector and enthusiast, starting an Instagram account and then a website (timeline.watch) dedicated to your collections. What sparked this interest in watches and horology? Was it the Roskopf pocket watch you received on your 10th birthday? What
An Ode to a Timeless Classic: The IWC Mark Series - Monochrome Watches
Most of you have probably heard about the IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVII. This is the latest incarnation of IWC’s classic line of pilots' watches with a central hour, minute, and second hand and a date function. In this presentation we are going way back in time in order to trace its bloodline, which is one of the most important in the history of horology. The Mark series of watches were created as life saving tools for aviators, designed in accordance with military specifications and nowadays have reached a cult status that few wristwatches attain. At the start of the 20th Century, mankind began to make its first endeavors to conquer the skies. The time-keeping apparatus was an essential tool that progressed in parallel evolution with aviation and those first attempts towards proper navigation in the air. 2020 TAG Heuer Connected Watch and Interview with Frederic Arnault
Today, TAG Heuer launches a new Connected watch and we sat down with Frederic Arnault, TAG Heuer's Chief Strategy and Digital Officer, to talk about the new Connected Watch. How does it fit in the entire TAG Heuer line-up and what are the possibilities? One thing seems clear, TAG Heuer is able to use its 160 years of watchmaking experience to create a well-designed, ergonomic and good-looking wristwatch. This time without mechanical content but with state-of-art technical content and the latest software. Frederic is confident that both mechanical and connected can successfully coexist and thrive within one of the most recognized, historic Swiss watch brands. ?TAG Heuer introduces the third-generation of its Connected Watch, and since the brand pioneered the luxury connected watch segment back in 2015, it has now accumulated a significant background in this field. This third-generation mixes classic TAG Heuer watchmaking elements and an up-to-date digital experience with more functional
Introducing The New Ulysse Nardin Blast Free Wheel Marquetry
During this year’s Geneva Watch Days, Ulysse Nardin unveiled the captivating and innovative Blast Free Wheel Marquetry. This creation showcases the artistic potential of silicon and features a familiar design reminiscent of the Executive Free Wheel Tourbillon, characterised by its captivating display of movement components. This latest horological composition echoes the recurring thematic of “floating” elements, encompassing a flying tourbillon, a poised gear train, and a power reserve indicator. Furthermore, this timepiece includes multi-coloured silicon marquetry, an artistry that had hitherto adorned the Freak X editions since 2019. This noteworthy revelation marks the inaugural integration of this artistic technique within the Blast collection. Let’s glance at this Ulysse Nardin Blast Free Wheel Marquetry timepiece.Presented in a 45mm white gold Blast case, the watch manifests an imposing presence, augmented by the deliberate omission of a conventional bezel
Panerai Luminor Marina 44mm White Sandwich PAM01314 Hands-On
A few months ago, we introduced to you a new and important model for Panerai, the revamped Luminor Marina 44mm PAM01313. Classic in its execution with a steel case and blue dial, it mostly marked?the comeback of the Luminor Marina collection, with a new direction for this emblematic model. No vintage accents, no complex movement, just a simplified and essential design focussed on functions and modern style. Next to this blue model, there was a second watch launched, and surprisingly we’re talking about the first-ever “white sandwich” Luminor watch… We take a closer look at the PAM01314.Since his arrival at the head of Panerai, Jean-Marc Pontroue has worked to clarify Panerai’s collections. There was indeed a lack of consistency and legebility, with some models hardly identifiable as a Luminor or a Radiomir, some watches with diving credentials, some watches with modern design… The idea has been to refocus Panerai’s collection around four fundam
