Retrospective - 20 years of GPHG, And The 19 Winning Watches To Date
This year will be the 20th anniversary of the Oscars of watchmaking, the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve. As such it is an exceptional year: a year of change and of celebration. This year, the GPHG is launching its international watch industry Academy. The initiative will invite several hundred stakeholders in the sector to take part in the various stages of the watch selection process. Besides the traditional award ceremony that will be held on November 12th 2020, the GPHG has announced a series of events, including two exhibitions showcasing the 19 winning watches since 2001. These exhibitions will be open to the public during the upcoming editions of Watches & Wonders and Baselworld. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry Reports Growth in 2018 - Downturn in December - Monochrome Watches
The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FHS) reports exports up 6.3% at CHF 21.2 billion in 2018, back above the CHF 20 billion mark. Exports have now climbed for two consecutive years as demand bounced back in 2017 (CHF 19.9 billion, +2.7%), after two years of decline. The performance achieved in 2018 is still inferior to that of 2015.The 2018 Omega Seamaster Diver 300M – Last July, the Swatch Group and its subsidiaries, including Omega, reported 2018 half-year sales up 14.7%.Growth slowed over the second semester as exports had benefited from a 10.5% jump over the first six months of 2018.
