Swiss Watch Exports Down Feb 2020, And Expected to Plunge Due to Coronavirus
The FHS, the Swiss Watch Federation, just released its export statistics for the month of February 2020, and, as you might expect, these are down. The value of exports contracted by 9.2% to CHF 1.6 billion. But, this does not even reflect the severe and jittery situation on the market provoked by the Coronavirus Pandemic. If exports were down 51% to China and down 42% to Hong Kong, shipments to the US were still up 17.8%, as the epidemic had not yet hit that country. The same situation is visible in Germany (+7.3%), France (+12.6%) and Italy (+5.0%). The Coronavirus Pandemic, as of March 2020, has now spread globally and this is just the beginning of the downturn for Swiss watch exportsNaturally, Coronavirus is first and foremost a health problem, but second an economic one. The luxury industry, including the Swiss watch industry, is expected to be amongst the hardest-hit sectors. Consumer consumption has collapsed as many countries are now under complete lockdown. Introducing The New Norqain Adventure Neverest 40mm Line
Norqain and mountain climbing adventures go hand in hand. Founded just three years ago, the logo of this successful independent ?Swiss brand is a mountain peak. Today, Norqain releases the Adventure Neverest Line, a sub-collection in the Adventure family that marks the brand's charitable partnership with the Butterfly Help Project to support schooling for children in Nepal. Three new models kick-start the partnership and mark the first Adventure models to be fitted with Kenissi manufacture chronometer-rated calibres, a new 40mm case size, increased water-resistance, the removal of the date window and a screw-down crown. Omega Speedmaster 57 Calibre 9906 40.5mm - Hands-On, Price
When thinking Speedmaster, you'll immediately have in mind the classic Moonwatch, the Professional model that is coincidentally the direct descendant of the watches that made it to space. This statement is, of course, partially right, but not complete. Since the 1970s, the Speedmaster is more than a watch, it's a collection. Alongside the Moonwatch, the heritage models powered by the Calibre 321, the feminine collection, the Chronoscope or the large Racing models, the brand also has a vintage-inspired watch with modern mechanics, the Speedmaster 57. And today, in the frame of the 65th anniversary of the watch born in 1957, Omega gives the latter a complete revamp. From case to movement or proportions, almost everything changes, and this new Omega Speedmaster 57 Calibre 9906 40.5mm Collection ticks many boxes.?Alongside the Speedmaster Racing and its 44.25mm case, the Speedmaster 57 and its 41.5mm diameter represents the modern side of the collection, at least technically speaking, as b
The Collector's Series - The "Cooler than ice-cream" Patek Philippe Nautilus 5726 of Kristian - Monochrome Watches
When I'm speaking to a collector and you glance down to see their watch proudly sports the scuffs and scratches of daily wear, it gently warms the soul. Not only do you know that the owner, more often than not, chooses that watch, but you know it has a story associated with it. As a watch geek, your mission is to try to extract those stories. In many cases, the owner generally does not require much persuasion to give you full brief. This couldn’t have been more true than when I sat down with our old friend Kristian Haagen to discuss his Nautilus 5726. A Genta classic and his current favourite watch. On a leather strap, the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5726 offers a different look to many Nautilus out there. This week Kristian proudly showed us his beaten up Nautilus, what he thinks of Ed Sheeran wearing his watch (well, one like it) and why he became so fond of it.When and where did you buy it Kristian??
