Spotted - Football Player Roberto Firmino with an HYT H0
Usually, professional football players show a preference for a handful of watch brands. They are usually spotted with mainstream brands like Audemars Piguet, Hublot, Patek Philippe, Richard Mille or . I have observed a couple of players with timepieces from A. Lange & Sohne and Patek, and also watches from independent brand Urwerk. This leads us to today's player who has purchased a watch that tells the time using an unconventional method. Here's Roberto Firmino's HYT watch.Roberto Firmino is a Brazilian football (or soccer for our US readers…) player for English Premier League club Liverpool FC and the Brazil national team, as an attacking midfielder, forward or winger. On 31 August 2019, Firmino became the first Brazilian player to score 50 goals in the Premier League when he netted the third and final goal in a 3¨C0 win over Burnley.Photo by Chloe Knott – Danehouse/Getty ImagesHe recently purchased a watch from HYT. Introducing: The Deep-Diver Montblanc Iced Sea 0 Oxygen Deep 4810
Montblanc introduced its white star logo in 1913, an emblem which has graced the caps of its fountain pens and, later, the crowns of its watches. While the logo is universally recognised, some folk might not know that it represents a stylised bird’s eye view of the snow-capped peak of Mont Blanc and its six glaciers. As a brand that has always fostered its connection to Europe’s highest mountain with a selection of mountaineering-themed sports watches, the decision to introduce a diver’s watch seemed an odd change of direction. However, CEO Laurent’s Lecamp’s gamble paid off with the 1858 Iced Sea, an ISO 6425-compliant, 300m water-resistant diver’s watch with a crackly, sparkling glacier dial inspired by the Mer de Glace or ice sea glacier found on the slopes of Montblanc. Buoyed by the success of the 1858 Iced Sea collection of 2022, Montblanc releases a top-of-the-line diver with an impressive water-resistance of 4,810m, which, as you might have g
First Look: The New Platinum Editions of the Ferdinand Berthoud Chronometre FB3 SPC
In 2015, one of the great names in 18th-century watchmaking was resurrected by Chopard's co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele. Ferdinand Berthoud (1727-1807), the Swiss horologist who emigrated to Paris in 1745 and gained fame for his marine chronometers, was granted a second lease of life. Determined to perpetuate the legacy and chronometric credentials of F. Berthoud's past glories in contemporary watchmaking language, Scheufele's niche brand has been delighting connoisseurs for a decade. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Ferdinand Berthoud presents a limited series of its Chronometre FB3 reference in platinum with salmon-pink or black PVD-coated movements and an optional sprinkling of diamonds.Launched in 2022, the most distinctive feature of the FB3 is its rare cylindrical balance spring. Used in marine chronometers and inside a 1793 decimal pocket watch made by Ferdinand Berthoud's nephew, Louis Berthoud, one of the advantages of a cylindrical spring, explained in detail here, i

Introducing The New Breguet Type 20 and Type XX Chronographs (Video & Live Pics)
Call it Type 20 or Type XX (keep in mind that each has its own meaning), but what’s always true is that we’re looking at one of the most emblematic French-related watches and one of the most important models of the modern era of Breguet. Born in the 1950s as an answer to a military request, the (Breguet but not only) Type 20, the military version, named after the French Air Force’s specification or later the civilian?Breguet Type XX, have long been some of the most illustrious pilot’s chronographs around. After a few years without its presence in the collection, it’s now time for Breguet to bring it back with a pair of watches that take cues from emblematic first-generation models yet modernised on many levels. Here are the 2023 Breguet Type 20 Chronograph 2057 and Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2067.If you've been reading MONOCHROME for some years, there's something you probably know about me. The Type XX (to be precise, the mid-1990s reference 3800ST) is on
