Industry Watches & Wonders Shanghai, China, September 2020
While the centre of attraction for Watches & Wonders – previously known as SIHH or Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie – has always been Geneva, Switzerland, the show has been held in other locations such as Hong Kong or in Miami. For 2020, this relocated extension of W&W will take place in Shanghai, China – from September 9th to September 13th, 2020 – a strategic choice considering the importance of the Asian market for Richemont (and other brands) sales.?After three mini-SIHH editions (2013, 2014 and 2015) in Hong Kong and a relocation of the additional show to Miami in 2018 and 2019, the Watches & Wonders ecosystem has decided to add yet another – but highly strategic – location to its portfolio of shows with the upcoming Watches & Wonders Shanghai 2020. Hands-on - Pellikaan Timing reveals the Lorentz Speed of Sound
It has been quite a while since we’ve seen something really new coming from the niche watchmaking company Pellikaan Timing. Run by Hubert Pellikaan, a very passionate Dutchman with a background in pharmacy and science, the brand has a small but devoted following. The designs are all about legibility because Hubert wants his watches to be read from across the room. And admittedly, each one is extremely clear and intuitive! The story of Pellikaan Timing starts with the Flying Dutchman, born out of sheer stubbornness and frustration, and has now culminated with the brand’s first-ever chronograph. This is the Pellikaan Timing Lorentz ‘Speed of Sound’.The background of Pellikaan Timing starts with an Omega Speedmaster and the hunt for a new watch to join it on Hubert Pellikaan’s wrist. But the search for a new companion wasn’t easy, as Hubert always found some flaws in the designs he initially liked. So what do you do? Simple, you take a pen and paper (or
Introducing: The Gradient Green Oris Divers Sixty-Five Date 40mm
While the Aquis, which has been recently revised, represents the modern side of dive watches at Oris, the Divers Sixty-Five collection is, as you might have guessed by the name, its vintage-inspired counterpart. An instrumental model for the brand’s recent history, the ’65 has been presented in dozens of editions, with manufacture movement, a chronograph, original colours or compact cases. And it keeps surprising with a new and appealing version that combines handsome forest green hues with an all-rounder size and classic automatic movement.?Originally presented in 2015 and modelled after a historical watch of 1965, the Oris Divers Sixty-Five quickly became a hit for the brand. The first model of the relaunch measured 40mm, featured a date at 6 o’clock and mostly, came with a highly original dial with trapezoidal markers. The brand somehow softened this polarizing look in the following years, with a more classic dial layout and a date at 3 o’clock, housed in a 4
The Ralph Lauren Polo Bear Ralph & Ricky Bear Watch - Monochrome Watches
Like other big fashion and lifestyle brands, Ralph Lauren decided watches were missing from his emporium and introduced three lines in 2009 that expressed Lauren's love of all things equestrian and his passion for vintage cars. The latest Ralph & Ricky Bear watch is the most intimate model of all, a testament to Ralph Lauren's relationship with his wife and muse, Ricky. Depicting two hears holding hands wearing classic Ralph Lauren clothes, this 38mm automatic three-hand watch comes in a stainless steel case from the Polo Bear collection.Ralph Lauren's foray into watchmaking came about as a joint venture with Richemont in 2008, resulting in the Ralph Lauren Watches and Jewelry company based in Geneva. Since then, collections like the equestrian-inspired Stirrup and rugged outdoorsy Safari have materialised along with the handsome Automotive
