Industry Omega Raises its Warranty to 5 Years on all Watches
Following the trend for more services, more clarity and more security, Omega just announced it will now offer a 5-year warranty on all newly purchased watches – with immediate effect. Until now, the Omega warranty was different depending on the type of products – up to 4 years on Master Chronometer watches, compared to a traditional 2-year warranty in the industry (which was the warranty offered, as of now, on the Speedmaster Moonwatch, for instance). In 2015, Omega raised industry standards with the introduction of the Master Chronometer certification. Thanks to this new process, each watch is tested enduring stringent tests approved by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). These replicate real-life conditions and in particular, watches must demonstrate resistance to magnetic fields of 15,000 Gauss (to find out more, you can watch our in-depth video about the Master Chronometer certification process here). The brand inaugurated its new manufacture in Biel just o
Introducing: Vacheron Constantin Overseas World Time 7700V, the luxury worldtimer sports watch - Specs and Price - Monochrome Watches
This year, at the SIHH 2016, Vacheron Constantin came with?a brand new Overseas collection, and they introduced no less than 5 models: the?automatic?3-hand 4500V, the?Chronograph 5500V, the?Ultra-Slim 2000V, the?Ultra-Slim Perpetual Calendar and a ladies’ version (that we didn’t cover.) That’s already a complete collection, you could say. Especially for a newly introduced collection. However Vacheron Constantin decided to launch?some more Overseas models, and what could make more sense than the sporty chic Overseas with the most befitting complication for this type of watch, a worldtimer. Here’s the new Vacheron Constantin Overseas World Time 7700V. Oh and it comes with the Geneva Hallmark quality seal, and is available in three different colours.I guess we could say that 2016 is a proper Overseas year for Vacheron Constantin. After a few modest years, in terms of novelties, the brand already made a strong impression with last year’s Harmony collection tha
Linde Werdelin SpidoLite II Tech Green - Monochrome Watches
Linde Werdelin introduced the SpidoLite II Tech Green earlier this year at Baselworld and we got one of the two prototypes for an extensive review. The new SpidoLite II Tech Green is one of two new models that mark a special moment for Linde Werdelin as they have started using new materials. Like forged carbon and ALW, which stand for Alloy Linde Werdelin, being their own extremely light alloy. Besides the Tech Green, there’s the Tech Gold, that features a solid gold bezel and crown. The first thing you’ll notice when strapping the SpidoLite II Tech Green on the wrist, is that it is incredibly light. That also makes it into a very comfortable wear and I have to admit that the review period was over before I knew it and the watch had to be returned to the good folks of Linde Werdelin. So let’s take a closer look at the new forged carbon SpidoLite II Tech Green. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Industry News: Swatch Group Reports Sales Down For 1st Semester 2024
At CHF 3,445 million, the sales of the Swatch Group, the Swiss powerhouse owner of Omega, Longines or Tissot, are down 14.3% at constant exchange rates and 10.7% at constant rates. The declining sales strongly impact the operating profit at CHF 204 million against CHF 686 million for the previous year. Swatch Group advises that the decline in sales was triggered by the sharp drop in demand for luxury goods in Greater China. The Swatch brand is the only one in the group to see its sales increase in China. After reaching records in 2023, the overall luxury market is facing a slowdown, and so is the Swatch Group following a record year in 2023. As seen over the past months, the watch industry faces the same challenges. In particular, the Chinese market is under pressure with a weak local demand caused by economic uncertainties. China’s economy grew much slower than expected in the second quarter with declining consumer confidence. According to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Indust
TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Mario Kart Limited Editions - Hands-On, Price
TAG Heuer watches, and specifically the Formula 1 collection (obviously, with such a name), are all about racing and motorsports – the sport most associated with the brand. And yes, they often are relatively serious, or at least very focused on real-world automobiles. But what about keeping the racing spirit alive and sending it to a different universe, something about fun and playful inspirations? Something that will speak to a nostalgic (or not) audience? Something about one of the most emblematic characters and video games of the last 30 years? Yes, TAG Heuer is back with Mario Kart and brings two watches that are at the same time serious, unprecedented and very fun indeed. Like it or not…This pair of Formula 1 limited editions marks the second instalment in the TAG Heuer x Mario Kart story, following last year’s TAG Heuer Connected model, which became a hit in stores and a must-have for true Mario Kart aficionados (and there are a lot of them). Now, the chips and
