Pre-Baselworld 2015 - Oris Divers Sixty-Five - Specs and Price - Monochrome-Watches
Oris is known for creating interesting, solid, affordable but classical tool watches, including a bunch a very good dive?timepieces, such as the recently revealed Oris Aquis Depth Gauge. However, for this edition of Baselworld, the brand will strike hard and as they are?about to introduce a very cool watch, inspired by a practically unknown (and it’s a shame) vintage diving tool. It is called the?Oris Divers Sixty-Five and it could easily?change your opinion about Oris. The 1965 Vintage Oris Diver that inspired the 2015 editionThe watch you can see here is the one that inspired the new?Oris Divers Sixty-Five. It was introduced in 1965 and came with a 36mm chromium-plated brass case with a domed plexi-crystal, a bi-directional rotating bezel painted in black, and a black plastic tropic design' strap. It was water-resistant to 100m and featured a date window. Now that you have the ancestor, let’s have a look at the 2015?Oris Divers Sixty-Five. Ad - Scroll to continu
Top 10 of Baselworld 2017 by Xavier Markl
The 100th?anniversary edition of Baselworld has just came to an end. It has been another packed event, despite a strange overall impression and the current situation that prompted brands to be more cautious. As for each fair, the offerings are diverse but we have to come with our highlights. A tough choice but as we had to pick ten, here are the Baselworld 2017 watches that have caught my eyes – presented without specific order But?as always with?Monochrome watches, it is guaranteed 100% quartz- and android-free!Bulgari Octo Finissimo AutomaticBulgari's record-thin version of their Octo Finissimo with automatic winding was one of the highlights of the fair. Crafted in titanium, this lithe wristwatch is powered by the caliber BLV138, just 2.23mm thick! Still, whether you care about records does not really matter; like its manual wound siblings, the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic is simply?magnificent. It is comfortable, elegant looking and its micro-rotor movement is superb. One
The Collector's Series - Watch journalist Tomasz Kieltyka and his Panerai Luminor Base 8 Days PAM00560 - Monochrome-Watches
It's been three months since we started our voyage to circle the globe in search of collectors and their stories. Amazingly it is only until this week that we came across a Panerai owner. It was in Poland when we met Tomasz Kie?tyka, the founder and other half of Chronos24.pl (we first met with Luckasz and his Tudor Heritage Chrono). He's a watch insider and a fine collector – and here is the story of his Panerai Luminor Base 8 Days PAM00560 and his journey through watches.Tomasz was born the same year as Some Girls album by The Rolling Stones. He was destined to be an electrical engineer, but life had other plans. Following a period at a creative advertising agency, he then founded Chronos24.pl. He started the website as a means of expressing his passion for watchmaking rather than a purely commercial proposition. I believe it was the idea that by building a successful platform from which he could discuss his passion, that it would free up his spare time and allow him to find pi
Naoya Hida & Co. Type 3A Moon Phase (Specs & Price)
The fascinating world of watches stretches all around the world and thankfully, it doesn't only focus on Switzerland. Until now, we haven't featured that many brands from Japan on MONOCHROME, to the exception of the usual mainstream brands and a few rising brands, and it is about time we do something about that. Today's destination is the Land of the Rising Sun as we take a closer look at Naoya Hida & Co., an independent watchmaker based in Tokyo, Japan, doing things with impressive attention to details. And the topic of choice is the recently introduced Naoya Hida & Co. Type 3A Moon Phase.BackgroundIt's no secret that we, at MONOCHROME, have love for independent watchmaking. People that do things on their own, with creativity and above all, devotion to craftsmanship. Time and time again we're surprised with the virtual limitless industry we love. Youngtimer-brand Naoya Hida & Co. is one of those brands that to us, came out of nowhere and took us by surprise. The brand uses
News: LVMH and TAG Heuer Become Official Partner of Formula 1 for 10 Years
While rumours had circulated for some time, the confirmation has now been made. As Formula 1 gears up to celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2025, there's major news shaking up its sponsorship landscape. LVMH, the world's largest luxury conglomerate, has officially signed on as a Global Partner of Formula 1 in a groundbreaking 10-year deal, with what is certainly one of the most important sports sponsorship deals ever. If no figures have been disclosed, it’s reasonable to imagine a 10-figure investment over the course of this partnership. While it will bring several iconic LVMH Maisons, including Louis Vuitton and Mo?t Hennessy, into the Formula 1 spotlight, our primary focus here at MONOCHROME is, naturally, on the watchmaking aspect, especially when it comes to TAG Heuer. The agreement, set to begin in 2025, marks a significant milestone for LVMH Group, and of course TAG Heuer, a brand synonymous with motorsport heritage. The involvement of the group is obviously pivotal here and
