Hands-on IWC Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar Racing Green IW503005
IWC Schaffhausen's emblematic Big Pilot's Watch collection is of great historical relevance and has evolved from a purely functional piece to more of a statement watch if there ever as one. The very idea of legibility and oversized cases is still very much alive and serves the BP collection well.?This year alone, several new models have been released already, including a smaller time-only model, the Big Pilot 43, a rather cool Top Gun Mojave Desert edition and the incredible Schock Absorber XPL. The latest in line, adding complexity and colours in the process, is the IWC Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition Racing Green IW503005.When it comes to the Big Pilot’s Watch, a few things are established; an oversized case with a large diamond-shaped crown and a dial as clean and legible as possible. After all, the original Big Pilot's Watch 52 S.C. served a very clear purpose and that spirit hasn't changed much ever since. However, as the very necessity for such a watch has evol
Lang 1943 Field Watch & Return of Gerd-Rudiger Lang
Some names will resonate in the minds of collectors, for their influence on watchmaking. While the industry was facing its most difficult crisis ever during the 1970s and 1980s, one man had faith in mechanical watches. In 1983, a certain Gerd-Rudiger Lang registered the name Chronoswiss, becoming a pioneer for what’s now known as contemporary watchmaking. In 2022, Mister Lang (now almost 80) returns to the bench with a new eponymous brand, Lang 1943, and presents the inaugural model, the Lang 1943 Field Watch Edition One.?BackgroundGerd R. Lang is an important name for the watch industry, mostly due to his influence on the return of mechanical watches in the early 1980s – at a time when quartz and digital timepieces were seen as the only future possible. Born in 1943 in Braunschweig, Germany, Lang quickly moved to Switzerland and landed at Heuer in 1964, where he worked in the production of stopwatches. In 1968 he was sent to the German branch in Frankfurt before relocating
TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 02 "Grand Prix de Monaco Historique" Edition - Monochrome Watches
Racing along the tight curves of the Formula 1 city circuit, historic cars compete in the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, a reference in the motoring world and one of the most important historic car racing events. TAG Heuer, maker of iconic racing chronographs, including the Monaco, was already the Official Watch of the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Monaco Top Cars Collection. The brand has now been appointed Official Sponsor and Timekeeper of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Some partnerships just seem like natural fits.AUTO LEGENDSThe 1950s and 1960s were the golden age of motor-racing and of mechanical watch design. It was a period of authentic connection between automotive and horological worlds. At Heuer, stopwatches and dashboard instruments were the mainstay of the company business. Instead of soulless reference numbers, the brand started to use distinctive names for its chronographs like the Autavia, the Carrera or the Camaro And in 1969, Heuer launched the Monaco.

First Look: The new Tissot Chemin des Tourelles Skeleton
While its primary focus has been the highly successful PRX collection for a couple of years, last year, Tissot decided to go back to basics by discreetly reinterpreting one of its classics, the Chemin des Tourelles collection. Subtly redesigned, upgraded mechanically with a Powermatic 80 movement and offering new and elegant dial designs, the revamped Chemin des Tourelles is the brand’s definition of a classic, elegant watch at a fair price. Now expanding the collection and offering a view of the mechanics on both sides is the Tissot Chemin des Tourelles Skeleton Collection.?If you look at Tissot’s collection, besides Heritage-oriented watches and sports models such as the PRX or the Seastar, you’ll find an array of classic watches. There’s the Gentleman, which can be defined as a modern casual-chic option; then comes the Le Locle, with its textured dials and retro style, and finally, there’s the Chemin des Tourelles, which can be seen as a contemporary ta
