Introducing the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Chrono Black Titanium
On the sidelines of SIHH 2017, TAG Heuer and the other watch brands in?the LVMH Group (Hublot and Zenith) will?be presenting novelties to journalists and retailers who have flocked to Geneva for the week. Following on from?the full Black Ceramic Heuer-01 we showed you earlier this week, TAG returns to?the roots of its collection, with a sporty and masculine Carrera Chronograph, dressed in black and beige, for a slight vintage look. Here is the?TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Chrono Black Titanium with brown strap. This new watch is in the same vein as?existing watches of the brand, such as this model. Visually, we have the great, racing-oriented Carrera style, with the typical case (facetted lugs) and a legible outer tachymeter scale printed on the bezel. The dial features the usual large decimal numerals (and no hour indexes), a day and date configuration and an automatic chronograph movement (based on the 7750). This watch has been in the collection for 10 years already and so?TAG Heuer
Introducing: Oris ProPilot X Year of the Snake Limited Edition
Swiss watchmakers are ushering in Chinese New Year with exclusive limited-edition models inspired by zodiac animals and Asian cultural traditions. To celebrate the year 2025, which is believed to bring personal growth, strategic planning and embrace transformation, Oris releases a special Year of the Snake timepiece, a modern, highly technical 44mm watch featuring a skeletonized dial and equipped with an in-house developed calibre. The ProPilot X Calibre 115, introduced in 2019, was a transformative moment for Oris, setting a new direction for the brand with its robust design and technical prowess later seen in more classic versions. The Oris ProPilot X Year of the Snake retains the strength and innovation of the original while introducing unique decorative elements to honour the zodiac theme. The ProPilot X Year of the Snake features a 44mm multi-piece brushed titanium case, water-resistant to 100 meters and topped with a double-domed sapphire crystal. Panerai Luminor Chronograph Yachts Challenge 2019 ref. PAM00764 - PAM00788 - PAM001020 (Specs & Price)
The association of Panerai with the International Circuit for Classic Sailing Yachts is a long story that has led to the creation of multiple watches, under the name Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge (PCYC). Often regarded as some of the nicest watches in the collection, just like the Luminor 1950 PCYC ref. PAM00653 we reviewed recently (my favourite Panerai watch), the Italian brand unveils three new pieces with the PCYC logo on the dial and a marked departure from the vintage inspiration of previous models.? More modern and sportier, let’s take a look at the PAM00764, PAM00788 and PAM001020.The 2019 Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge collection launches three new watches – as it is often the case with these nautical-inspired pieces. The previous collection, dating back to 2017, already houses three chronograph watches – two with flyback functions (ref. PAM00654 and PAM00653) and a more complex watch with a regatta complication and a larger case (ref. PAM00652). All of
SIHH 2014: Introducing the New Panerai Radiomir 1940 Chronograph - Monochrome Watches
SIHH 2014 is on fire and Officine Panerai is part of the game. The Italian brand just reveals a new series of vintage-inspired chronographs based on a wonderful Minerva movement. The Radiomir 1940 Chronograph will be available in three versions, platinum (PAM00518), red gold (PAM00519) and white gold (PAM00520). A new limited edition to inflame the Paneristi's mind?Panerai's first chronograph was created in 1943. It was the famous (and now overpriced) Radiomir Mare Nostrum, developed for the Italian navy’s deck officers. In the light of this rich history, Panerai reveals a new vintage-inspired chronograph, part of the new Radiomir 1940 line. Based on a cushion-shaped case with lugs (not the wire loop strap attachments of the classical Radiomir) and without the crown protection of the Luminor models, this case shows the transition between the old Radiomir and the 1950's Luminor. Three versions, each in a limited edition of 100 pieces, will be available: PAM00518, platinum case wit
American Obscurities: Bare Steel and Plexiglas-Bodied Cars - Monochrome Watches
American car culture can be a weird thing sometimes, incomparable to other cultures. It is an endless source of interesting stories and cars. It might not be to everyone's liking as there's a wide range of styles and followings. This week we take a look at two stories by two leading manufacturers displaying their skill and know-how in new technology and design. On one hand, we have a transparent car by Pontiac (General Motors) from the 1930s and on the other, we have a trio of bare steel Fords.General Motors, parent to a whole portfolio of brands, and Ford are leading car manufacturers, both in the US and abroad. Besides building regular road cars for regular people, they have spawned some hugely interesting machines that get Petrolhead's gears racing a little faster! Most people might think of a Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, Charger and Challenger, a Viper or other muscle and sports cars. And you'd be right, all very lovely stuff. But there's more, especially when you look at concept car
