Grand Seiko Heritage SLGH005 Calibre 9SA5 Shirakaba - Specs & Price
Back in March 2020, Grand Seiko was celebrating its 60th anniversary and, in addition to expected special edition watches, the brand struck hard by presenting a fascinating movement, the Hi-Beat Calibre 9SA5 with multiple innovations, such as the novel Dual Impulse escapement. First presented in a gold case, followed by a limited edition in steel, this movement is now finding its way into the permanent collection with the watch we are presenting today. Meet the new Grand Seiko Heritage SLGH005 Calibre 9SA5 “Shirakaba”, with a dial that, typical to GS, reveals a superb texture. The new “Shirakaba” SLGH005 is the first non-limited edition watch to be equipped with this innovative movement – we’re talking discreet innovations, but nevertheless impressive technology. As such, it is still based on the same architecture as the SLGH002 and SLGH003. The case, made of stainless steel, measures 40mm in diameter for a relatively reasonable thickness of 11.7mm (w
Introducing Omega Speedmaster Calibre 321 Canopus Gold 38.6mm (Price)
Almost exactly 3 years ago, Omega gave Speedmaster fans one of the best possible gifts possible, the re-introduction of the historic Calibre 321, the movement that first equipped the Speedy from 1957 to the late 1960s. This will be followed by another important introduction, that of the Speedmaster Moonwatch Calibre 321, a watch that we extensively reviewed and named the Ultimate Speedmaster. Today, Omega begins the year with a new Speedmaster – just like they did in 2021 with the new Moonwatch – and not just a simple colour or material evolution, but with the new Speedmaster Calibre 321 Canopus Gold, a watch that is all about luxury and being true to the first-ever Speedmaster, the CK2915-1 of 1957 – inside and out.In 1957, as part of a trilogy of watches, Omega launched the Speedmaster, its vision of a racing chronograph. Alongside this watch were two other professional models, the Seamaster 300 and the Railmaster. But the Speedmaster will always have a place of cho

The Collector's Series - Why the Oris Divers Sixty Five is such a cool watch for our Managing Editor? - Monochrome Watches
When I think back to 2015, there were two new watches that seemed to pop up all over the place: the Tudor Black Bay and the Oris Divers Sixty Five. And for good reason. Both models are great looking and both are positioned to be affordable. We covered the Sixty Five in all it's glory here last year. What I was keen to establish was, is it the Sixty Five's rugged, vintage inspired looks or it's versatility that attracts a collector? The only way to know is to ask, right? I met up with a good friend, Brice, collector and Managing Editor here at Monochrome-Watches, to find out what he thinks about his own Sixty Five, in this new installment of the Collector’s Series.Brice, tell us when you bought your Oris Divers Sixty Five?? Pre Baselworld 2014: Introducing the Ulysse Nardin Perpetual Manufacture - Monochrome Watches
The Non-Plus-Ultra when it comes to perpetual calendars has always been the GMT +/- Perpetual from Ulysse Nardin, and developed by mastermind Ludwig Oechslin. It was the first perpetual calendar that allowed the time zones and date to be adjusted both forward and backward. While most other perpetual calendar watches had to be sent to the service center, when you adjusted the date wrongly, not so for the GMT +/- Perpetual from UN. After our pre-Baselworld introduction of the Dual-Time Manufacture (also with that nifty adjustment that goes forward and backwards) it’s time to present to you the new Perpetual Manufacture. The Perpetual Manufacture is a numbered and limited edition of 250 pieces in rose gold and 250 pieces in platinum, to launch GMT +/- Perpetual with the new in-house movement, caliber UN-32. This movement features a silicon escapement (anchor, escape wheel and roller) and hairspring, which means that the most fragile parts in the movement are not affected by magnetis
