Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver Forged Carbon - Monochrome Watches
Our guest contributor Angus shares his views on the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Forged Carbon that was released earlier this year. Not only the Royal Oak had something to celebrate this year, but the Royal Oak Offshore, or ROO called by collectors, had something to celebrate; it was first launched 20 years ago.My son is 13 years of age and a precociously developed Adonis. I may appear somewhat biased but most parents will forgive the rose-tinted adoration of my handsome heir. On a recent holiday my son broke the news that he longer wished to pursue his chosen sport of rowing but return to the perilous game of rugby. He explained he missed the camaraderie of being in a large team. Embracing The Winter Cold With Six Icy-White Watches
For a large part of the world, the cold season is setting in. Temperatures are dropping, daylight gets pushed back by darkness, snow and ice are grinding cities and towns to a halt and so on. To turn things around and embrace the cold, why not opt for a cool white watch for the winter season? The colour is usually most associated with summer sun, the beach or the pool, but it works just as fine in winter, I’d say! With this in mind, here are six snow-white watches to get you through the winter slum!hublot square bang Unico white ceramicBig, bold, and mostly white, the Hublot Square Bang Unico in white ceramic certainly packs a visual punch. This square-shaped watch from Hublot measures 41mm by 12mm and has a modular white ceramic case with black and titanium elements. The dial is pretty much absent, revealing the in-house Calibre HUB1280 flyback chronograph movement underneath. The large indices & hands still make it relatively legible. Introducing The Omega Seamaster Ploprof 1200m Summer Blue, The Return of An Icon (Live Pics & Price)
Part of the Seamaster 75th anniversary collection, Omega had to release a dedicated version of one of its most iconic dive watches, the Ploprof. With its oversized dimensions, distinctive asymmetrical shape, giant crown guard and unique crown placement, this professional diver truly stands apart. As you would expect, the new Ploprof comes with the same treatment as the other Seamaster 75th anniversary models including a compelling gradient blue dial. But there is more. What we have here is a new generation Ploprof, with a new case design. Here's what you have to know.?The history of the Ploprof is connected to the development of deep-sea saturation diving in the late 1950s to answer the needs of various industries such as offshore oil and gas exploration, underwater construction, scientific research, and underwater welding or inspection. The technique enables divers to perform complex and time-consuming tasks at depths that would be otherwise inaccessible using conventional diving meth
Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 - Baselworld 2018 (Specs & Price)
A new edition of Baselworld means a new Omega Speedmaster Special Edition. This has become a tradition – think Snoopy Award, Apollo 11 45th Anniversary, CK2998 or Apollo 17 45th Anniversary. This year, the space theme is still the main ingredient, as Omega celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 8 Mission. In that perspective, the brand chose to use the?popular “Dark Side of the Moon” theme. But as you’ll see, the Speedmaster Apollo 8 is very special – visually and mechanically. This new?Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon “Apollo 8 50th Anniversary” is a combination of various elements that we’ve seen already on Speedmasters, but never reunited in a single watch. In short: The classic Moonwatch case, but with a 44.25mm diameter The Dark Side of the Moon concept, meaning a full ceramic case The first Dark Side of the Moon with a hand-wound movement, based on legendary calibre 1861 A partially skeletonised movement Laser engraving
Interview - Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Ulysse Nardin, on the Future of the Brand
Replacing another Patrick (Hoffmann, CEO of the brand from 2011 to 2017), Patrick Pruniaux could easily be qualified as a luxury expert – watch expert, of course, but not only. He forms part of the new generation of CEOs who know about the watchmaking industry but who have also spent years outside of this microcosm. From the Wine and Spirit division of LVMH, followed by several?positions at TAG Heuer, Patrick crossed the Atlantic in 2014?to take up his position as a member of the Special Projects team at Apple, in Cupertino, to prepare the launch of the Apple Watch. He was then promoted to the position of Managing Director for UK & Ireland in 2015 and was also a member of Apple EMEA Executive Committee. He finally joined Kering Group in September 2017 as Chief Executive Officer of Ulysse Nardin. Today, the 2.0 luxury CEO talks to us about the future of Ulysse Nardin.MONOCHROME:?What have been your main tasks at Ulysse Nardin after joining the company a few months ago? How has
