The Longines HydroConquest GMT, An (Almost) Perfect Traveller's Dive Watch
The long-standing HydroConquest collection of diving watches by Longines has been a fan favourite for years. Since its introduction in 2007, it gained significant traction with enthusiasts and collectors. It was presented as a more modern diving tool to offset the retro-styled Legend Diver, also (re)launched in 2007. During the course of its life so far, plenty of colour variations have been introduced, including two-tone models with gold PVD elements. The most significant expansion to the range, though, came earlier this year as Longines decided it was time to up the HydroConquest’s versatility. Incorporating True GMT functionality, the Longines HydroConquest GMT becomes a robust diving watch fit for a globetrotting lifestyle. So, with all this in mind and a hands-on experience being a touch overdue, we have finally spent some time with two of the four new HydroConquest GMTs.With the introduction of the HydroConquest GMT also came a slightly new case design. The stout 41mm wide
Christmas Buying Guide - Our Top 5 Accessible Watches of 2015 - Monochrome Watches
After our first Christmas Buying Guide focused on our Top 5 Dress Watches of 2015, it’s time to go back on earth and to talk about real people’s watches. Let’s be honest, most of us can’t afford these sumptuous watches priced over 30,000 Euros (and more). Lucky those who can, really! However,?we have to keep in mind that a watch is a huge investment and this is the raison d’¨ºtre of this new Christmas Buying Guide, that this time will look at our?Top 5 Accessible Watches of 2015, with watches from 629 Euros to 4,950 Euros (we said accessible, not cheap and of course you’re at Monochrome, meaning that it will only be mechanical timepieces).Seiko Prospex Automatic Diver 200m Baby Tuna' 4R36?in blue?(ref.?SRP653K1)Entering the Prospex family means a lot for Seiko addicts. Watches and Charity: the IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition Laureus Sport for Good Foundation - Monochrome Watches
This is a bit of a personal story. I can’t imagine that it’ll come as a surprise that I have a thing for watches, to be specific, very fine hand-made and hand-finished watches. What might come as a surprise is that I also have a thing for the combination of fine watches and charity. IWC, the brand from Schaffhausen, has a long-term commitment with the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and that leads us to their latest timepiece dedicated to this collaboration: the IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. This year’s edition is already the ninth for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. We covered previous versions like last year’s?Portuguese Chronograph Classic Laureus, or the Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph Laureus from 2013. For the 2015 edition, IWC choose the Ingenieur Automatic, a very nice sports watch that we extensively reviewed for you. In all honesty, this version with ‘Laureus blue’ dial could well be the nicest

The moon has fascinated mankind for millennia, and our neighbouring satellite has had a monumental impact on life. It has been detrimental in the early days of telling time, serving as a reference beacon in the sky for people around the globe. It’s no wonder then, that plenty of brands feature a miniature representation of the moon prominently on the dial of a watch. We’ve looked at the topic before, but this time around we pay homage to our Moon with five marvellous mechanical watches featuring the most classical of representations.Trilobe Les Matinaux L’Heure ExquiseFrench independent watchmaking brand Trilobe serenades the moon with the wonderful Les Matinaux L’Heure Exquise. The world of watches and watchmaking in general isn’t limited to a small portion of the Swiss Jura mountains. In this respect, Japan is a country with a solid watch culture and a strong industry, gathering some of the most important brands around, such as Seiko (and all of its sub-brands) and Citizen. There’s also a highly impressive independent watchmaking scene to be explored in Japan. One of the most respected indies is, without a doubt, Naoya Hida. And today, it launches its 2022-2023 collection, featuring the 3rd generation case and new designs… with no fewer than 5 new references.?Naoya Hida is a relatively young brand, based in Tokyo, Japan.
