Geneva Watch Days 2020 Postponed To August 26th-29th-2020
After Watches & Wonders (ex-SIHH) and Baselworld announced the cancellation of their 2020 editions amid fears of a possible COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic, a group of brands decided that they could react to this situation and offer, through agility and ingenuity, a different approach to the presentation of new watches. With these lost opportunities to meet retailers and the press, watch brands need to handle business that would have got done there, but in a different way. Hence the creation of the “Geneva Watch Days 2020”. But this was a couple of weeks ago and things have changed in Europe, drastically. With the current situation and containment policies in most European countries and Switzerland, the Geneva Watch Days can no longer be, at least until the end of August 2020.What were the Geneva Watch Days 2020? It was a self-managed, decentralized, multi-brand event to be held from 26 to 29 April 2020, at the exact same dates as the cancelled Watches & Wonders 2020.
The Vintage Corner - A Watch Less Travelled - The Heuer Autavia Viceroy
Have you ever bought a vintage watch and wondered what life it led before it ended up in your hands? Well, this is a partial history of one such watch, a Heuer Autavia Viceroy 1163.In 2001 I had a long conversation with a retired Iowa farmer called Jim who had a vintage Heuer Autavia for sale on eBay. I wanted to buy the watch but the seller had stated No International Shipping' so I contacted him and we had a great talk about life. Me being a new father and him now retired, his children long gone and how he had learned to build his own website to communicate online, he was a really good chap and eventually we compromised and agreed he would ship the watch to a friend of mine's office at the Tribeca Centre in New York whom I was due to visit a few weeks later. So fast forward three weeks and after a rather busy weekend in New York and more than a few cocktails, I delivered the watch to my watchmaker here in the UK for service. I had bought the watch as stock for my small collector websi

Yesterday, we've received from Omega an interesting piece of news, the presentation of the Speedmaster Mark II re-issue. At Monochrome's offices (not that far from Wayne Tower) this kicked-up more than just a little dust. Because Monochrome-Watches is more than just words on website, it's a team, with its members and their own preferences and tempers. So let's present you the new Omega Speedmaster re-issue in a different way.
