ATTACK OF THE CLONES! See What Happens When a Body and Face are CLONED - But the Soul is Nowhere to be Found! - Monochrome Watches
I’m truly sorry to dredge up this subject once again – but I’ve been asked by some highly influential people to pontificate on the sordid subject of ‘so called’ clone watches.A few weeks ago I shared an exchange of messages back and forth with Monochrome-Watches.com Editor, Founder, Head-Honcho and newly-wed: Frank Geelen. This t¨ºte-¨¤-t¨ºte was initiated by a clone' watch Frank saw in the window of an Italian jewelry shop. We then played a little game of yeah – but did you know about THIS one' sending links to auctions for clone watches back and forth. By the time we were done we were both a bit shocked at how many there were and we were also a bit horrified that the companies that created these watches were not fly-by-night organizations, they were generally well-regarded brands in the industry, with serious credentials and credibility at stake! Introducing New Blue PVD Santos de Cartier Large Model (Specs & Price)
Since its introduction in 2018, the Santos de Cartier has been the best example of a sporty/luxury watch for the brand. With its interesting mix of traditional, dare I say emblematic design with casual elements and overall robustness, it has since been seen in various editions designed to add a touch of boldness to the collection. In addition to the classic steel models, but also versions with a gradient blue dial or a black-coated case, it now comes with a new blue-coated bezel and new dials, all featuring an unprecedented striped pattern. Meet the new blue Santos de Cartier for Watches and Wonders 2022.While faithfulness and traditional elegance are to be found in the Santos-Dumont collection, the classic Santos de Cartier is a sporty, casual luxury watch with daily wear in mind. Hence the relative heft of the case, its modern dimensions and decent water-resistance make it a weekend-ready Cartier. With this in mind, it’s also a great vehicle for colour combinations, playing wit
Hands-On - Patek Philippe Chronograph Annual Calendar 5905R-001 Brown Dial (Specs & Price)
The watch we’re looking at today certainly wasn’t Patek Philippe‘s main novelty of 2019. If you want some fresh, truly unprecedented pieces, you’ll have to look at the Calatrava Weekly Calendar 5212A, the Alarm Travel Time 5520P or the (superb) Chronograph 5172G. And so what?… Can’t we just enjoy a new edition of an existing watch, especially when it’s a Chronograph Annual Calendar and that now comes in one hell of a beautiful colour combination? Well, we can and here’s a look at the pink gold/brown dial Patek Philippe Chronograph Annual Calendar 5905R.BackgroundTo understand where the Chronograph Annual Calendar 5905R comes from, a bit of history is required. This watch is the last evolution of a model that sums up what Patek does best: calendar chronographs! Certainly, most of us will have in mind the ultimate combo, the QP-Chrono, a lineage started in 1941 with the reference 1518, followed by the references 2499, 3970, 5970 and 5270. S
Glashutte Original Sixties and Sixties Panorama Date Annual Edition Fiery Orange (Specs & Price¨¤
Following last year’s beautiful and successful “Annual Edition” of the?vintage-inspired Glashutte Original Sixties and?Sixties Panorama Date, which depicted a superb metallic green dial, the Saxon brand returns in 2019 with a new model. Again, these watches will be produced for just one year – and you can expect to have a new model for 2020. With the exuberant?1960s design codes in mind, the 2019 editions of the?Glashutte Original Sixties and?Sixties Panorama Date are presented with warm, bright and bold?Fiery Orange dials.Basically, no drastic changes here. The recipe used on the 2018 Annual Edition is repeated: a watch based on vintage-inspired Sixties models (with or without the signature Panorama Date), emblematic watches of the GUD-era (back when the brand was controlled by the GDR), a non-limited production (in terms of numbers) which will run for a year only, textured dials and bright, gradient colours. This started in 2018 with a surprising but accomplis
