Dietrich TC-Pure Limited Edition Sterile Dials (Specs & Price)
We've covered several Dietrich watches in the past, which showcase edgy, avant-garde designs like the DD-1 and 1969. Founded in 2010 by Emmanuel Dietrich, the brand focused on affordable eccentricity, but also flexed some horological muscle with the Perception in 2017, a complicated and sophisticated Swiss made piece with a high price to match. Dietrich also launched the Time Companion collection that year, a surprisingly conventional and well-priced steel sports watch. A recent collaboration with Toronto based designer Matt Smith-Johnson has resulted in the new TC-Pure Limited Edition, a stripped down and modern interpretation of the original Time Companion (TC-1).The stainless steel case and integrated bracelet remain unchanged from the TC-1 with their Audemars Piguet Royal Oak vibe, but the new dials really change the aesthetic. MONOCHROME's Founder and Managing Director Frank Geelen recently explained how personal a dial can be with his own vintage Royal Oak Jumbo' 5402ST. Matt Smi
The Collector's Corner: The Youngtimer Appeal of the TAG Heuer Monza Calibre 36
When you hear the name TAG Heuer, which watches come to mind? The Monaco, the Carrera, or perhaps the Autavia? Maybe the Aquaracer? But what about the Monza? The Monza can be considered the dark horse of TAG Heuer's lineup, occasionally popping up over the years but never having quite the staying power as other, more famous, TAG Heuer models. 2023 saw TAG Heuer relaunch the Monza yet again, this time clad in carbon fibre and powered by an in-house flyback chronograph. We thought it would be a good idea to feature the Monza on The Collector's Corner and take a closer look at an iteration of the model that was released in 2001, the Monza Calibre 36, which is, in our books, the best iteration of this watch to date And here's why.The Monza LineageThe first watch to be mentioned in the Monza lineage was a cushion-cased monopusher chronograph produced in the 1930s. You have to remember that round watches were not as ubiquitous in the first half of the 20th century as they are today. Watchmak
The New Bulgari Octo l'Originale Solotempo in full Titanium - Monochrome Watches
Bulgari made quite an impact last year when it unveiled its record-breaking, ultra-thin Octo Finissimo Automatic. In total, the sand-blasted titanium case measured just 5.15mm thick, an incredible achievement and one that in my opinion, looks absolutely superb on the wrist. Others, however, found it either too thin or too expensive. Fortunately for those detractors, Bulgari's new Octo l’Originale Solotempo Titanium offers a very similar aesthetic, in a slightly thicker case and at a more wallet-friendly price.Bulgari is introducing several new models into its popular Octo collection this year, and we've already gotten hands-on with two of them; the Octo l'Originale Velocissimo chronograph in full titanium and the Octo Tourbillon Sapphire in Black DLC. The third model we are looking at is the Solotempo, a stylish three-hander with date presented in the brand's trademark multi-layer octagonal case with 110 facets. A Brief Look Ahead At The Upcoming 2024 Season of Formula 1
We’re only weeks away from the start of the 2024 Formula 1 season, as all the teams have presented their new cars (mainly liveries) over the past fortnight or so. But this time around, it wasn’t the new cars that were the talk of the town, but rather the shock announcement that Lewis Hamilton has signed with Ferrari for the 2025 season! Although that is still a year away, and he will likely want to finish strong with Mercedes-AMG, it was news that rippled through the F1 paddock like an earthquake. Despite that, we have 24 races to look forward to this year! Red Bull will attempt to achieve their fourth driver’s championship at the hands of Max Verstappen in a row, while the rest will do everything they can to prevent that from happening. But the age-old question remains: who will rise to the occasion? It’s all kicking off in Bahrein on February 21st with the pre-season testing and the first race weekend starting on the 29th of February! The new Aston Martin AMR24
Parmigiani Tonda 1950 - Reviewing an Elegant Classic Dress Watch - Monochrome Watches
Suppose you’re looking for a dress watch. Not just a dress watch but it has to be a pure, thoroughbred dress watch and it has to be among the best that money can buy. So you focus your (online) search queries on Haute Horlogerie, or high-end watches, and dress watch and hope you will find what you’re looking for. Unfortunately Google serves you too many results that simply do not apply. At least they don’t apply according to our standards. Today we’re going to show you an example that does qualify, and easily holds its own?with the biggest names in the industry. We’re talking about the superbly elegant Parmigiani Tonda 1950.When talking dress watches, we are not always straight in our classification, we have to admit that. Sometimes we classify an elegant watch that features?a moon phase and date as dress watch, while in its purest form a dress watch should only?indicates time with two or three hands (with or without seconds). There’s a lot of choice
