Watches NEWS
Introducing: IWC Pilot Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team
It’s only January, and yet the upcoming 2025 Formula One season is already in the starting blocks. We had the recent announcement of a new official timekeeper, and there are watch-related things to be expected on this side soon. But the first to kick off the F1 watch game this year is IWC, which presents a watch that unsurprisingly looks familiar. Indeed, while being a time-and-date watch, it relies on the same design cues as the Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 Edition Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. Except that now we’re looking at a titanium Mark XX version.?We’ve seen many AMG-themed watches in all the years that the team has been sponsored by IWC. Also, we have to count the dozens of special watches made with pilot Lewis Hamilton, even though this has come to an end, as he’ll soon be driving for Ferrari. But the watch we’re looking at today, just like the chronograph edition of 2022, is a bit special as it’s a so-called team watch and not a watch for
Introducing: The New Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Geographic
Jaeger-LeCoultre is probably not the first brand that springs to mind when it comes to sports watches. Fair enough, the Reverso was initially designed for polo players, but by today's standards, it is far closer to being a dress watch than a sports watch. To amend this situation, Jaeger-LeCoultre turned to its Memovox Polaris, an iconic dive watch of 1968 with an underwater alarm, and used it as inspiration for its sporty Polaris collection of 2018. Expanding the Polaris collection, Jaeger introduces a practical travel complication. Sporting the new contemporary ocean grey colour scheme with orange accents and the signature dial textures of this collection, the Polaris Geographic is equipped with a dual time function, a day/night indicator and a 24-city ring. The new Polaris Geographic borrows a complication previously featured in the dressier Master collection. It also made a fleeing limited-edition stint inside the Polaris collection in 2018 with dual time functions, a 24-city ring an
Video Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium Collection
Presented in 2019, the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 is an essential all-rounder, with the multi-purpose, versatile style needed for an everyday watch. Not too fancy or formal so it can be used on weekends, not too sporty either so it can be worn at the office. Modern yet classic, it might not be a particularly original design but, it is a very effective one.?And that makes it, alongside the attractive PRX collection, one of the best Tissot models now on offer.?The 40mm diameter and 11mm height of the case make the Tissot Gentleman relatively compact on the wrist. The sleek look, with a smooth polished bezel, adds to the robust feel of the watch, as well as its discretion. The case, as you would expect from Tissot, is well-executed, nicely decorated with a combination of brushed and polished surfaces, with an overall quality that is quite impressive given its price category. For instance, the side of the lugs is highlighted by a nice polished bevel, while the flanks are brushed. The w
Mido Multifort Escape with Automatic Movement - Value Proposition Review (Specs & Price)
Founded in 1918, Mido is a company of the Swatch group based in Le Locle. For whatever reason, the brand is sometimes a bit underrated but it does deserve a closer look. Mido watches are well made and offer superb value. The Multifort was originally presented in 1934 and was among the first antimagnetic watches with a self-winding movement. A commercial success for the brand, it is one of its oldest collections. Today, we look at its descendant, the Mido Multifort Escape.Presented at Baselworld this year, the Multifort Escape is the latest addition to the line. It is a stylish, slightly vintage-inspired, rugged watch designed for outdoor use. Its case is a well-proportioned, classic design with a large conical fluted crown. It is presented in stainless steel with an aged and sandblasted PVD treatment creating an interesting patina. The thin, sloped bezel frames a sapphire glass that is slightly domed and comes with double-sided anti-reflective coating. At 44mm in diameter, it wears its
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Steel and Titanium - Monochrome Watches
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas is one of the watches that I’ve liked since I first saw it. So a post about this watch has been long overdue. Recently I visted Brussels for a nice weekend and I just happened to walk by a Vacheron Constantin dealer. In the window they had the Overseas Chronograph Steel & Titanium on display, a model that I hadn’t seen or touched so I went in to have a look. Not sure if that was a smart move, because it’s an absolute gorgeous watch and it moved up in the wishlist with lightning speed. The first models of the Overseas Steel & Titanium collection?where launched in the summer of 2009. These where the?Overseas Automatic and the Overseas Automatic Chronograph. Both? feature a monochromatic (gosh, I love that word) grey theme with finely brushed stainless steel cases and anthracite titanium bezels. In 2010 Vacheron Constantin launched another model in this collection, the Overseas Dual Time Steel & Titanium. Ad - Scroll
