Found - A Gold Patek Philippe Nautilus 3700-1J Gubelin-Signed
If you have the slightest interest in watches, you’re certainly aware of the collectibility and (insanely high) market value of the Patek Philippe Nautilus. Nothing new here. Produced from 1976 to 1990, the first generation Nautilus – the reference 3700 – is a relatively rare model, as even the steel versions were only made in about 5,000 pieces. A perfect condition steel 3700/1A is a collector’s must-have. However, there are even more collectible versions, and we just found one of these ultra-rare, ultra-expensive models, a yellow gold Patek Philippe Nautilus 3700/1J, as crisp as new, and with a Gubelin-signed dial. Now, that’s something you don’t see every day. And it also reflects the state of the current market, which might be getting out of hand…First of all, if you want to know everything about the first-generation Patek Philippe Nautilus, we encourage you to have a look at this in-depth article we published a few years ago. It is a good
5 Cool Finds: An old IWC Mark X, a GP Rattrapante, a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Perpetual and two AP's that you wouldn't expect - Monochrome Watches
In the online world of watches, vintage watches are covered extensively. Many of our online colleagues are doing a great job at this. Since we’re ‘passionate about vintage watches, and certainly no experts, we are more than aware of all the dangers of this ‘murky world’ of vintage watches. We’ve heard too many stories of modifying parts (bezels, dials, hands) or exchanging parts between two (or more) watches, and that’s why we prefer to stay clear of this.?Most of us, of the Monochrome team, do surf the web, searching for used watches. However while we sometimes look for a nice vintage piece, we often look for so-called youngtimers. In a series of articles that we’ll do together with Catawiki, an online auction platform, who have?given us access to the auction lots?before the auctions start, we’re going to explore the online world of second hand watches. Mainly focused at youngtimers, and only once in a while a “vintage exception
Baselworld 2019 - MeisterSinger Bronze Editions No. 03, Perigraph and Metris (Specs & Price)
MeisterSinger specializes in unique, single-hand watches and its entire portfolio reflects that - none have a minute or seconds hand (well, there's this one). Most of its cases have been stainless steel thus far, with a cool Black Line edition of diamond-like carbon (DLC) coated cases providing an edgier, sportier look. Bronze has been an increasingly popular case material with brands like Bell & Ross, IWC and Montblanc jumping onboard, and MeisterSinger itself has dabbled in bronze with the limited Perigraph Bronze. The German brand is now expanding on this with three new bronze editions of its most successful models - the No. 03, Perigraph and Metris. Bronze has long been favoured for nautical and scientific instruments due to its resilience and resistance to corrosion. It does form a patina over time, however, making each piece unique with an antique(ish) quality as they age.The No. 03 watches are part of MeisterSinger's Classic line, having either no date or a circular date win
Introducing: TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Team Ikuzawa by Bamford
The connection between TAG Heuer and motorsport does not need to be demonstrated anymore: it’s set in stone. Especially when talking about the Carrera, a watch that was designed for this sole purpose and named after one of the most famous open-road races of all times – and coincidentally, sharing its name with one of the most emblematic cars ever made, resulting in a highly befitting partnership. Today, the watchmaker pays tribute to Japanese racing heritage by presenting a new limited edition designed by Bamford Watch Department in partnership with Team Ikuzawa.?The Choice of Racing Enthusiasts… This is the motto behind Team Ikuzawa, named after Tetsu Ikuzawa (born 1941), a former racing driver, team executive, and businessman from Tokyo with an impressive racing pedigree. Tetsu entered his first motorcycle race at 15, and while he finished last, he was given the Fighting Spirit Award for his perseverance, a fitting way to commence his career. In 1963 he switched fro
Baselworld 2017 - TAG Heuer Autavia 2017 (Specs & Price)
This is it, the big one for TAG Heuer this year, the commercial?version of that highly awaited?Autavia 2017 Reedition. Most probably, you already heard about this watch, and we, at Monochrome-Watches, covered it when we saw the prototype and its movement. But now, that’s the one you’ll find tomorrow (literally) in stores. Here is the the Final Version of the TAG Heuer Autavia 2017.Back on the Autavia itself… In 1933, Heuer designed the first dash counter for racing cars and aircraft: the Autavia chronograph. The name was a contraction of AUTomobile and AVIAtion. Yet, this is in 1962 that the story really begins, with the Autavia wristwatch. Jack Heuer, the fourth generation head of the company, created his first wrist sports chronograph. Its innovative signature: a rotating bezel. For many, the Autavia is far more symbolic of the automotive side than aviation. Its ambassadors were the greatest Formula 1 drivers of the 1960s and 1970s: Jo Siffert, Mario Andretti, Joche
