Iconic timepieces can get repetitive, but this watch knows exactly how to gain back attraction with its blue ceramic bezel featuring a Ceragold diving scale. 18K yellow gold and stainless steel make up the 42 mm body and bracelet. The blue ceramic dial is decorated with laser-inscribed waves, which complement the date window at 6 o'clock. The hands are filled with super- LumiNova and 18K gold. A clear sapphire-crystal on the wave-edged caseback features the driving force - OMEGA Master Chronometer Calibre 8800.

State of the Industry - Who Does or Doesnt Have an In-House Chronograph? - Monochrome Watches
If the chronograph is one of the most popular complications, it is also one of the most complex types of movements to manufacture. Not so long ago, just a handful of manufactures had the knowledge or the financial resources to produce their own, in-house mechanical chronograph calibre but the past 20 years have witnessed the birth of an impressive number of self-developed movements. During the 1970s, new accurate quartz movements gained popularity and plunged the Swiss watch industry into a deep crisis. Sales of mechanical watches declined sharply, production of mechanical movements was reduced to a trickle, and many Swiss watchmakers went out of business. Zenith is an eloquent example of how stock and production capacities were destroyed (and saved by an act of disobedience for El Primero – read the history of this iconic chronograph here).Following the renaissance of mechanical watchmaking in the 1980s and 1990s, brands massively invested in movement development and production
Hands-On Bulgari Octo Finissimo 10th Anniversary Editions Sketch Dials
Attaining iconic status in the world of watchmaking is no easy feat. Consecrated icons display a winning blend of excellent design and mechanical content that can weather the fickle nature of market trends. In a record span of just ten years, the bold contemporary Italian design and sophisticated Swiss mechanics of Bulgari‘s Octo family have secured it a pedestal in the hall of icons. Witnessing the ascent of a 21st-century icon is indeed a rare event, but if we factor in the rapid succession of world records for the Octo Finissimo’s ultra-thin movements, we are looking at something truly phenomenal. Besides the unbelievably thin new world record holder, there are some more watches to be unveiled. The Octo Finissimo Automatic and Chronograph GMT Automatic, both world record holders in the ultra-thin department in 2017 and 2019 respectively, have been revisited with a rather unusual and collector-oriented feature: the original sketches created by Fabrizio Buonamassa, Bulgari
Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Automatic Tadao Ando Black Ceramic hands-on
Time has many faces. Acclaimed Japanese architect Tadao Ando envisions time as a spiral that winds in a continuous and gradually widening curve around a central point. In his first collaboration with Bvlgari in 2019, Ando represented the inexorable passing of time with a mesmerising spiral engraved on the dial of the Octo Finissimo Automatic emanating from the off-centred seconds hand. In line with the dial’s stark minimalism, there were no hour markers, numerals or logos on the first Octo Finissimo collaboration piece.? Bearing the same technical specifications and case design of the record-breaking Octo Finissimo Automatic, this year, Ando has created a dial inspired by Mikazuki, the Japanese term for a crescent moon, or the moon on the third day of the lunar month'.Tadao AndoJapanese architect Tadao Ando (Osaka, 1941) is revered as a national treasure in Japan. Renowned for his minimalist concrete structures, Ando infuses his architecture with Japanese cultural and religious i
Delma Cayman Worldtimer Automatic (Specs & Price)
Delma is a brand that we’ve covered on multiple occasions here at MONOCHROME. The watches, often rugged and powerful diving instruments, have proved to be well-executed and performing while retaining a reasonable price. One of its recent models, the Cayman, a cool, accessible, retro-styled diver’s watch, offers everything you need and more. Based on the time-and-date model, the brand adds a new version for travellers, which retains all its aquatic capacities. Meet the Delma Cayman Worldtimer Automatic. The Cayman is Delma’s entry-level offer in the dive watch collection – which also comprises ultra-resistant models such as the Blue Shark or the Oceanmaster. But don’t think this is a poor man’s option, as this 1970s-inspired watch, with its low-key style, modern but not oversized dimensions, is a very capable instrument that can resist to pressure (50 ATM/500m) and is equipped with a Swiss ETA automatic. Available in multiple colours, with a nicely sha
