Sinn R500 Bullhead Racing Stopwatch (Specs & Price)
Sinn, the German watchmaker with a forte in instrument watches, revisits a racing stopwatch from the 1970s complete with the historical “bullhead” design. Although this new model takes its design cues from a vintage and original chronograph, the Sinn R500 Chronograph is made from contemporary high-strength titanium with racy design features. A stopwatch designed for the wrist, the overall look of the R500 evokes the exciting atmosphere of motorsports.?Instrument watches for extreme conditionsSinn was founded in Frankfurt, in 1961 by Helmut Sinn, an instructor for blind flight (relying exclusively on instruments for flying an aircraft in conditions of zero visibility) and a former WWII pilot. The core business under Helmut Sinn was the manufacture of navigation clocks and pilot chronographs. In 1994 the company was bought by engineer Lothar Schmidt who pushed technological development to create reliable, ultra-resilient instrument watches, often for special forces – in
Cartier Time Art - Mechanics of Passion opens its door in Zurich - Monochrome Watches
Cartier just opened the Cartier Time Art exhibition in Zurich, Switzerland. A beautifully designed exhibition with an huge number of very rare vintage Cartiers. If you have the opportunity to visit… do so!?Cartier shows 156 of its historical timepieces, selected from the treasures of the Cartier Collection. Some timepieces are among the first wristwatches Cartier made and this is even more special if you consider that Cartier’s Santos Dumont is said to be the first real wrist watch. Besides the oldest Santos Dumont timepieces, there are also early models of the Tank Cintree and a Cartier Crash. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Many of the timepieces have quite a story to them, however the story of the Cartier Crash is really remarkable. The Crash was?originally designed and launched by Cartier London in 1967.?Until a few decades ago Cartier was c
Omega De Ville Tresor Orbis Editions (Specs & Price)
Like many other members of the Swiss watch industry, Omega is no stranger to the concept of charity watches, which are created to raise awareness and raise funds in order to support a great cause. Since 2011, the Biel-based brand has been supporting international non-profit organisation Orbis, committed to preventing avoidable blindness in the world's poorest regions. This year, Omega presents a new duo of blue-themed watches, which once again wants to make a difference. Meet the new De Ville Tresor watches for Orbis.Orbis International is an international non-profit non-governmental organisation dedicated to saving sight worldwide. Created in 1982, its programmes focus on the prevention of blindness and the treatment of blinding eye diseases in developing countries through hands-on training, public health education, advocacy and local partnerships. Omega announces the first truly anti-magnetic watch movement - Monochrome Watches
Today Omega announced a watch that is resistant to magnetic fields greater than 1.5 tesla (15,000 gauss)!! That’s a lot and any normal watch will stop immediately when exposed to this level of magnetism.?For comparison, a watch is considered anti-magnetic when it can withstand 60 Milgauss and the Milgauss is designed to withstand a?magnetic flux density of 1,000 gauss. Omega’s new movement can withstand 15,000 Gauss and they don’t rely on a soft-iron case, and find the solution in the materials used for creating the movement.Time for some explanation!?Gauss is the unit of a magnetic field and is named after the German mathematician and physicist Carl Friedrich Gauss.?Gauss is the “cgs unit” of magnetic flux density in a magnetic field and one gauss is defined as one maxwell per square centimeter. This sounds like gibberish? I also had to look it up on Wikipedia (check here). It’s more practical to say that a small magnet produces about 100 Gauss. So

Racing along the tight curves of the Formula 1 city circuit, historic cars compete in the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, a reference in the motoring world and one of the most important historic car racing events. TAG Heuer, maker of iconic racing chronographs, including the Monaco, was already the Official Watch of the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Monaco Top Cars Collection. The brand has now been appointed Official Sponsor and Timekeeper of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Some partnerships just seem like natural fits.AUTO LEGENDSThe 1950s and 1960s were the golden age of motor-racing and of mechanical watch design. It was a period of authentic connection between automotive and horological worlds. At Heuer, stopwatches and dashboard instruments were the mainstay of the company business. Instead of soulless reference numbers, the brand started to use distinctive names for its chronographs like the Autavia, the Carrera or the Camaro And in 1969, Heuer launched the Monaco.
