The Railmaster Omega has a silver dial, bezel, and bracelet with black base. The black dial base houses orange triangles as markers and four Arabic numerals on the inner circle indicate 3, 6, 9, and 12 o' clock. The stainless steel case is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. The automatic wristwatch has a power reserve of approximately seventy hours. This design is one of the limited editions.

Interview: Charles Le Menestrel, Owner of Ollech & Wajs, On Keeping A Historical Name Alive
The name might not ring a bell with a broader audience, but it is well-known and highly respected in some collectors’ communities.?A Swiss brand specialising in tool watches, Ollech & Wajs (O&W) was founded in 1956 by Albert Wajs and his friend Joseph Ollech, who formed a partnership and opened a watch shop. At first, they distributed timepieces from Breitling and Omega but eventually decided to establish their own brand, Ollech & Wajs Zurich. They soon agreed that OWZ would specialise in reliable and accurate mechanical watches. In 2017, after more than 60 years at the helm, Albert Wajs passed on O&W to Charles Le Menestrel, who shares his vision to keep the brand’s spirit alive with us.Xavier Markl, MONOCHROME – Charles, thanks for having us. What is your background, and how did you get into watches?Charles Le Menestrel, Ollech & Wajs – I have always been into what would be best-called merchandise transactions, buying and selling large quan
Introducing: The Hublot Big Bang Unico Ice Bang
This year, the Hublot Big Bang Unico is out to please a wider demographic. Issued in a bright orange ceramic case (and a slightly less eye-catching but no less unusual green ceramic variant), the counterpart of this extravagant model is the Big Bang Unico Ice Bang, which looks back over its shoulder to the first Ice Bang released in 2006. A limited edition of 100 pieces, the Big Bang Unico Ice Bang will be available exclusively online. In a departure from the transparent Kermit-green Big Bang Unico Saxem, the new Big Bang Unico Ice Bang tones down the colour palette and goes for a more contained and sober look. When the Big Bang erupted on the scene in 2005, it was the paragon of a loud, oversized, high-testosterone watch bristling with unusual combinations of materials. After almost two decades, it still has a powerful presence, but most of us have grown accustomed to its bold personality and almost expect each successive model to outdo the last one with more exaggerated colours and fa
Hands-On With The Final Edition Of The Ferdinand Berthoud Chronometre FB 2T (With Video)
Ferdinand Berthoud stages the swan song of its impressive calibre FB-T.FC. that made its debut in 2015 on board the FB1. Inspired by Ferdinand Berthoud's historical marine chronometers, the fascinating tourbillon movement with fusee-and-chain transmission took home the top prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve in 2016 and has secured the brand a firm footing in the Haute Horlogerie arena. Respecting the original dial configuration of the FB 1 and powered by the same movement, the final act of the Chronometre FB, composed of 38 customisable pieces, exchanges its octagonal hull for a round case.Enlightened TimesFerdinand Berthoud (1727-1807) emigrated from Switzerland to Paris in 1745 at the age of 18. It was an inspired location for a young man of such exceptional talent. The cradle of the Age of Enlightenment, Paris was a hotbed of intellectual and scientific inquiry. The French Academy of Sciences (Academie des Sciences?1666), founded to encourage and protect French scientifi
The AGTZ Twin Tail is Zagatos Tribute To The Legendary Alpine A220 Racing Car
The first test flight of the Concorde, the moon landing, the Woodstock festival, and Monty Python’s Flying Circus first aired on BBC One… just a few of the major historic events that happened in the year 1969. In motorsports, a lot happened too, as Sir Jackie Stewart won his first of three Formula 1 World Driver Championships, Bruce McLaren dominated the Can-Am series in a car built by his own team, and Ford won Le Mans for a fourth consecutive year. But that same year, the French team of Alpine entered the A220, a racing car that might not have won Le Mans that year but has become sort of a cult hero. Most notably for its short-to-longtail conversion from 1968 to 1969, which is now paid tribute to by none other than Zagato.?The famous Italian design studio and coachbuilding company Zagato has been around for more than 100 years and is known for its unique styling. Founded by Ugo Zagato in 1919, the company quickly garnered fame by making lightweight bodies for Alfa Romeo
Introducing the Ulysse Anchor Escapement - Monochrome Watches
Earlier this year at Baselworld, Ulysse Nardin introduced an entirely new escapement that is referred to as the Ulysse Anchor Escapement. While its name does not immediately give away what it’s all about, it can best be seen in relation to previous ground-breaking developments of the brand, who were the first to introduce a silicon escapement wheel, and for that matter silicon in a wrist watch movement. That was with the introduction of the Freak, back in 2001. Fast forward to the December 2012, when Monochrome broke the story of Girard-Perregaux’s new silicon escapement (and we’re not just talking about the escape wheel or pallet fork, but about the entire escapement) we immediately recognized the potential game-changing qualities. Ulysse Nardin’s new Ulysse Anchor Escapement works in more or less a similar way, and we believe it holds equal, or more, game-changing properties. Let us explain what the new escapement actually is, and why it is, potentially, such
