Hands-On - Chopard Alpine Eagle 33 Automatic (Specs & Price)
Fast on the heels of the Alpine Eagle Pine Green model, Chopard is also releasing six references in a new 33mm case size. When the Alpine Eagle luxury sports watch collection was introduced in 2019, the first time-and-date models were offered in 41mm and 36mm case sizes, moving up to 44mm cases for the chronograph models The new, smaller case size is evidently targeting women and comes in ethical rose gold or Lucent Steel – and combinations of both materials- with or without diamonds on the bezel. Like all members of the Alpine Eagle family, the watch and the chronometer-certified movement are developed and manufactured in-house. And perhaps the best news of all, the date window featured on larger 41mm non-jewellery models has been suppressed.Downsizing a watch while retaining its personality might seem to be an easy task, but it requires a comprehensive study of proportions and balance to ensure the genetic traits of the collection don’t get lost. Although there have alway
Introducing: The GemSet Chopard Alpine Eagle Summit 41mm Collection
Now in its sixth edition, Dubai Watch Week will be in the spotlight from 16-20 November as a stage for 60 participating watch brands to unveil their novelties. Chopard will introduce a gem-set solid gold version of its luxury sports watch, the Alpine Eagle, in four variations with different combinations of gradient-coloured stones set in the bezel. The Alpine Eagle luxury sports watch collection debuted in 2019, based on a sporty-chic Chopard model from the 1980s known as the St. Moritz. Featuring a tonneau-shaped case with a raised round bezel with eight functional screws and a radiating textured dial that recalls the iris of an eagle’s eye, the Alpine Eagle collection is home to everything from straightforward time-and-date models to chronographs, and from flying tourbillons to high-frequency models. First Look: ZRC Ressurects Its 1960s Securicode Dive Watch
ZRC (Zuccolo Rochet & Cie) isn't a household name in the dive community like , Doxa, Blancpain or Omega (or even Seiko, if we cross a few time zones), but it certainly has a place in history. Responding to the French Navy's request for deep dive watches in 1958, the brand developed the S1 diver for testing in 1959. This became ZRC's first watch after approval, the Grands Fonds 300 (ZRC focused on bracelets and straps prior). The Securicode followed in 1965 and won the top prize at the 11th Inventors' Exhibition in Brussels with its unique way of providing advanced immersion times at various depths with a central dial calculator. Later editions were also made using more traditional dials. To celebrate its 120th anniversary, ZRC has rebooted the Securicode name with three dive watch?models faithful to the original S1 aesthetic.?By the mid-1960s, the Grands Fonds had its crown positioned at 6 o'clock that just slipped under a cutout in the bracelet so it couldn't be worn without the
Sarpaneva Korona K1 - Monochrome Watches
It’s been roughly 9 months since I bought my ‘grail-watch’, the Korona K1 from the Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva. So enough experience to sit down and write about this watch that’s been on my wrist almost permanently for almost 9 months. My Sarpaneva Korona K1 was my first watch from an independent watchmaker and also my most luxurious/expensive watch ever. When Stepan Sarpaneva told me the watch that I ordered was ready, I booked a ticket to Helsinki to pick it up myself. Here you can read the report of my trip to Helsinki. Now it’s time for a review to share my experiences of owning and wearing a Sarpaneva Korona K1. In May of last year it was finally time. The months before had been an intense period. Of course a decision like this was not made overnight, so long lists of potential watches had to be narrowed down. Or maybe the decision was not so difficult, it was just me having difficulty with spending so much money on a watch.?When my decision w
Introducing: Piaget Polo Emperador Skeleton Tourbillon High Jewellery
Piaget is synonymous with ultra-thin movements and high jewellery watches, areas of expertise the brand started to cultivate in the late 1950s. Not many watch brands excel in both disciplines, and alongside its state-of-the-art watch manufacture outside Geneva and its historic site in La C?te-aux-Fees, Piaget owns the largest jewellery workshop in Geneva. The latest Piaget Polo Emperador is a stunning fusion of Haute Horlogerie and Haute Joaillerie, marrying an ultra-thin gem-set automatic skeletonised flying tourbillon movement to a white gold case dripping with bright green emeralds and fiery white diamonds.Piaget's dominion of ultra-thin movements was consolidated in its La C?te-aux-Fees manufacture with the introduction of the famous manual-winding calibre 9P in 1957, followed by the world's (at that time) thinnest automatic movement, the calibre 12P of 1960. The latest gem-set Polo Emperador perpetuates the brand's tradition of ultra-thin movements and is the extravagant sibling o
