Collector's Series - watchfoodwithme's Daniel Roth Papillon 10th Anniversary
An American-based watch collector, Sagar, a.k.a @watchfoodwithme on Instagram, works in Regulatory Affairs for Medical Devices. He might be only 31 years old, but if you look at his feed on social media, scrolling through his collection of watches, you'll see that he already is quite a seasoned horology enthusiast. And he clearly has a thing for unusual watches and colours. From his home base in Minneapolis, USA, he explains why his Daniel Roth Papillon 10th Anniversary Model, which is limited to 110 pieces, is one of his most coveted pieces.?Frank Geelen, MONOCHROME – Your Daniel Roth Papillon is awesome. When did you discover Daniel Roth watches?Sagar, @watchfoodwithme – It was @Orangedial17 a.k.a Wayne's Instagram handle, where I discovered this brand Daniel Roth in late 2020. He had a beautiful salmon dial chronograph and then I started learning about the brand and stumbled upon Frank's Daniel Roth small seconds with a salmon dial on a MONOCHROME article. Trust me, I tr

The Salon International Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) is over and it seems there is almost no time to talk and discuss all new releases from the Richemont brands. Press releases of new creations that will be shown at Baselwolrd 2009 are already pooring in! At Perpetuelle.com the Basel 2009 section is already full with new releases. Judging from a distance i think it looks very promising this year! Here are a few that really caught my attention…Maurice LaCroix comes with a skelletonished chronograph with the famous ML106 column-wheel movement. Besides the looks, which are absolutely stunning this manual wind colum-wheel chronograph offers a power reserve of 42 hours. The chronograph measures time to 1/5th of a second! Watches with a different display of time - Monochrome Watches
The first pocket watches only had one hand to display time and later this changed to an hour and minute hand. There are however watches with entirely different way to display time. Jumping hours, rotating disks, moving satellites and more!Displaying time in another way than the now ‘considered normal’ two hands watch, is of all times. Moderator of the Revolution Online Cartier forum started a post about this subject. After reading the post, the first brands that came to mind were Hautlence, Ladoire, MB&F, MCT Watches and?URWERK, more or less the usual suspects if you’re a frequent reader of Monochrome. Introducing: The Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms Pink Ocean
Following a rather unmanageable success with the Moonswatch collaboration with Omega, Swatch did it again in 2023 with yet another brand from the group – this time Blancpain – and with another emblematic watch – the Fifty Fathoms. The result, an accessible Bioceramic watch inspired by Blancpain’s famous dive watch, came with an automatic movement this time – which certainly made it more appropriate for us at MONOCHROME. Following the first 5 editions and an appealing all-black model, it’s now the total opposite that Swatch drops; a pink-to-the-max version, the new Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms Pink Ocean.Following the inaugural collection of 2023, the Swatch x Blancpain Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms was presented in two other editions. There was first the all-black Ocean Of Storms in January 2024. Recently, the brand also released a turquoise edition named Blue Lagoon – which surprisingly didn’t gather much attention. But wait u
