Hands-On - A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon with Pink Gold/Salmon Dial (Specs & Price)
Montblanc, Audemars, Patek?and more… Salmon/pink dials are THE trend for the 2018/2019 collection. Even though not entirely novel, we’ve never encountered so many watches with pink-coloured dials as we have this year. Don’t get us wrong, we actually love salmon dials here, at MONOCHROME (see Frank’s love letter here). There are, however, different ways to execute a salmon dial and when it decided to do its first real pink-coloured timepiece,?A. Lange & Sohne took the high-end road… really high-end, with the new?Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon and its solid pink gold dial.Lookbook 2019 – The trend for SalmonAfter a rolling series of blue dials (from 2013 to 2016), after multiple bronze watches (a trend that isn’t over, as seen at the SIHH with multiple?bronze case/green dial watches), the major trend for high-end watches this year seems to be the combination of white metal and a pink/salmon dial. Such a combination isn’t new, as it has
Introducing The Green Aventurine Code 11.59 by AP Tourbillon
Part of the 2023 collection, Audemars Piguet unveils a mesmerising version of its Code 11.59 Flying Tourbillon with a smoked green enamelled aventurine dial. Also referred to as fume or gradient dials, the effect produces a lighter tone in the centre of the dial that intensifies as it reaches the periphery. Presented in a two-tone 41mm pink gold and black ceramic case, this iteration will be launched exclusively in South-East Asia in June 2023, followed by other countries in August. The Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon was one of the first models introduced in the 2019 launch of the Code 11.59 collection and was fitted with a new movement – calibre 2950 – with a flying tourbillon. Following in the footsteps of the 2020 editions, one with a shimmering black aventurine dial and a second one with a blue gradient aventurine dial, Audemars Piguet has gone to town with this Code 11.59 iteration. Indeed, not only does this real piece of history have roots that can be traced back to WWII but its design is governed by precise codes. Adding complications to this watch has to be done with subtlety, in order not to ruin the uncluttered style that is characteristic of Pilot's Watches – remember that, as military instruments, these watches were meant to be as legible as possible, hence their large diameter, their lumino
Introducing The Hublot Spirit Of Big Bang Sang Bleu Collection
From the brand with the loudest watch name in history comes an even mightier Spirit of Big Bang model designed by Maxime Plescia-Buchi. Renowned as one of the hippest tattoo artists today, this is his third collaboration with Hublot and one that will not fly under the radar. A confounding juxtaposition of three-dimensional geometric shapes, the imposing Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu beats to a high-frequency El Primero chronograph movement. Presented as a limited edition, the new Sang Bleu collection comes in exceptionally complex titanium, ceramic or King Gold cases.Rhomboid shapeMaxime Plescia-Buchi is a cult tattoo artist (the hand behind Kanye West and FKA Twig's tattoos) with Sang Bleu design studios in London and Zurich. Having worked on the design of the Big Bang Sang Bleu I and II, Maxime Plescia-Buchi gives the barrel-shaped Spirit of Big Bang case a new identity by elongating its bezel and case to create a domineering rhomboid structure, a signature geometric shape used
