First Look: The White Gold AP Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked 16204BC
Last week, we covered most of the new models introduced by Audemars Piguet, as part of the 2024 collection – which included a new ROO time-and-date, a handsome new alloy named Sand Gold and a striking collab watch with John Mayer. There is one watch that we’ve kept away for now, but it’s a stunner. Based on our all-time favourite, the Jumbo Extra-Thin case (the original Royal Oak…), AP is bringing a new version of the Extra-Thin Openworked in white gold (16204BC) with a sleek grey-on-grey colour scheme.?The Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked reference 16204 was introduced as part of the 50th-anniversary collection in 2022, which included the all-important 16202ST, the revised version of the classic Jumbo. Basically an openworked version of the aforementioned model, the Jumbo Openworked brought back a concept that was launched for the model’s 40th anniversary, with the reference 15203PT, a 40-piece limited edition. In 2010 Jaege-LeCoultre introduced the Duometre?¨¤ Quantieme Luniare, which became immediately populair amongst watch fans and it was even chosen as Timezone Watch of the Year 2010. Now Jaeger-LeCoultre releases a new version… It’s called the Duometrea Quanteme Luniare 40.5. From its name (and specifications) we can conclude it now comes in a more elegant size. Salmon Dial Watches and Limited Editions by Hodinkee and Revolution - Monochrome Watches
Last week Hodinkee introduced a limited edition Gronefeld 1941 Remontoire, and Revolution & The Rake announced a limited edition Chopard L.U.C 1860. Both superb dress watches, time-only, white metal case and… a salmon colour dial! Now, I’m a sucker for salmon dials, especially in a white metal case and I think both these limited editions are to die for. And both actually pack more than meets the eye, so all the more reason to have a closer look.As said, I love watches with a salmon dial, preferably in a white metal case. This colour of dial is quite rare and maybe not for everyone. And may I add, getting the exact right colour salmon is very important. A tad too pink and it goes wrong, and a tad too brownish and again, it goes wrong. Some years ago I was lucky to be able to pick up this lovely Daniel Roth dress watch, with, in my opinion, a stunning salmon colour guilloche dial. Opinion - A Big Pilot's Fan Take on The New IWC Big Pilots Watch 43
The Big Pilot… If you think about an emblematic, unmistakable watch by IWC, you hardly can do better than this. It is, at least to me, a watch that has defined the brand’s collection for years, a proper statement watch that is, and remains after close to 20 years of production, one of the best known modern watches.
