A new deep-blue dial for the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SRQ043
1969 was a monumental year for multiple reasons. It’s the year mankind set foot on the moon for the first time, the Boeing 747 Jumbojet made its maiden voyage, Eddy Merckx wins his first of five Tours de France races, and the Beatles made their last public performance. In watchmaking, it will forever be the year of the automatic chronograph. Next to Hamilton/Heuer/Breitling and Zenith, Seiko was also pushing to be the first and came out with the 6139. This legendary movement was the first automatic chronograph with a column wheel and vertical clutch, which made for a more precise and error-free measurement of elapsed time. Honouring this momentous achievement, Seiko introduced the Prospex Speedtimer collection in 2021, combining the aesthetics and technical elements of some of its earliest chronograph watches. Three years and multiple iterations onwards, Seiko now introduces the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SRQ043. The original Seiko Speedtimer released in 1969, with its aut
The New Bulgari Octo Finissimo Carbon Gold Editions (Live Pics & Video)
Attaining iconic status in the world of watchmaking is no easy feat. This is what however very much what Bulgari has achieved in a record span of just ten years, with the bold contemporary Italian design and sophisticated Swiss mechanics of the Octo Finissimo. Naturally, the Octo Finissimo is above anything else a statement of style and class. Bulgari crowned itself the master of ultra-slim movements, through what the brand likes to call La Estetica de la Meccanica. This culminated in no less than 8 world records in ultra-thin watchmaking since 2014. But one aspect that is not often widely discussed is how the use of the material has been crucial in the evolution of this collection, if only for a matter of colour, comfort and touch for this eminently tactile and ergonomic watch. On the occasion of Geneva Watch Days 2023, Bulgari introduces two new versions of its ultra-thin luxury sports watch in an original combination of materials: Carbon and Gold.Following titanium, platinum, rose a

Hands-On Piaget Polo S Automatic Green-and-Gold Limited Edition
Presented in 2016, the Polo S is Piaget's take on the steel luxury watch. Infused with 1970s vibes, this versatile timepiece is evocative of the category's icons but also displays a clear lineage with the Piaget Emperador, one of the brand's most recognizable designs. For 2020, the collection welcomes an attractive version with green dial and rose gold indices, fitted with a steel bracelet.Besides the steel bracelet, the eye-catching green dial is the main novelty and attraction of this new iteration of the Piaget Polo S. If the colour is not new – as can be seen here – the applied indices, hands and the frame of the date window are now rendered in rose gold. The green surface stands out with beautiful changing colours and striking metallic reflections – thanks to the colour obtained by PVD coating.
