The A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Moon Phase, or the Essence of German Symmetry - Monochrome Watches
When A. Lange & Sohne is mentioned, it is easy to dream. It is easy to dream because of names like Datograph, Zeitwerk or Double-Split. These watches can be found on so many watch collectors’ wish-list (and not only Lange aficionados), and for extremely good reasons, as clearly, they are all watchmaking?pinnacles, grail watches, dream-machines… and they are all rather inaccessible. So the main question that I’ll have today, with the?A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Moon Phase, is simple:?is there something special about?A. Lange & Sohne in general and will this “reasonable offer” give me the same pleasure? You will have to read ‘a few lines of text’ to find my answer…The Saxonia Moon Phase Full Moon JourneyBesides reviewing?this watch, I also had it in my hands (and on my wrist) for another reason.?A. Lange & Sohne indeed asked 16 journalists, from 16 cities around the world and during 16?synodical months (the Lunar month) to part
Just because it's February 29th - What to know about a Perpetual Calendar watch? - Monochrome Watches
Well, except if you're living on?different?planet?than us, normal?human beings, you certainly didn't miss out that today is kind of a special day - at least in the countries using the?Gregorian calendar (which represents 95% of?the world). Indeed, today is the day that occurs only once every 4 years and to us, watch lovers; it is a day that immediately refers to a specific features of fine watchmaking: the perpetual calendar. Thus, as 2016 is a leap year and as today is?February 29th, it is the perfect timing to have a closer look at why such a complication exists and how a perpetual calendar?works? Why is there a leap year and why every 4 years, we have a?February 29th?Before going into more technical details about the perpetual calendar function of a watch, we first have to understand the concept of leap year… which means a short astronomy and history lesson first. Don’t be afraid, as many?of the watch complications have been developed regarding?astronomical observations.
Old School- Universal Geneve Polerouter - Monochrome Watches
Some brands seem to be flying under the radar in today's watch landscape. But for at least some brands, that wasn't always the case. Universal Geneve is such a brand, did not only reached fame with its Tri-Compax chronographs, but perhaps even more so with their Polerouter.Today we live in a global village; with the push of a button we can e-mail a message almost instantly to the other side of the world, gps satellites can tell us real time not only where we are but also where to go, and world wide news is twittered faster then it can make the evening news. We can even enjoy all this while blasting through the stratosphere at 550 mph debating wither we will have another glass of champagne or switch to OJ, when a nice stewardess asks us what we wan to drink. The Auction Hammer: OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M "Golf" Signed by Rory McIlroy - Monochrome Watches
While we’ve been showing you many of the unique piece for Only Watch 2013, Omega and golf player Rory McIlroy give you the chance to bid (and win) a unique version of the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M “Golf”. This auction is much different from what you’re probably used to, because everyone can email their highest bid to [email protected] until 6 p.m. (EDT) on 17 August. The starting bid is set at $ 5,500 USD which is on par – pun intended – with the normal list price.Last year, Omega introduced the Aqua Terra 150M “Golf”. This is a standard 41 mm Aqua Terra 150M with the in-house caliber 8500, however now with a few green elements on the dial. The minutes in the minute track are printed in “golf green” as well as the model name “Seamaster” on the dial. Whether you want it for playing golf or simply because you like the green on the dial, it’s an attractive timepiece with Omega’s in-house movement.
