Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Handwerkskunst - Monochrome Watches
Last week we showed you the Grand Complication that A. Lange & So?hne introduced earlier this year (click here). It was Lange & Sohne’s first ‘grand complication’ but it was the second watch from this Saxon watch brand with a striking complication. The first timepiece from Lange that features a striking mechanism was the Zeitwerk Striking Time. The magnificent Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar, that was introduced last year, also has something in common with the Zeitwerk, which is synthesized in the word ‘Handwerkskunst‘.During the Watches & Wonders fair that starts today, Wednesday September 25th, in Honk Kong, Lange & Sohne introduce the new Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Handwerkskunst. ‘Handwerkskunst’ probably best translates as handwork art or the art of craftsmanship. The solid white gold dial is decorated with a rare combination of tremblage and relief engraving techniques. For the first time in a Lange timepi
Two Celebratory Watches For Moritz Grossmann's 15th Anniversary
Whenever birthdays or anniversaries are celebrated, brands like to go the extra mile in creating something truly cool or special. These celebratory pieces can become icons in their own right, as they often have special features, unique materials or never-to-be-repeated colour combinations. Omega has done it with the Seamaster, Audemars Piguet with the Royal Oak Offshore, and Patek Philippe even celebrates the birthday of its former president, Mr Philippe Stern. But for now, the focus shifts towards Glashutte, as Moritz Grossmann is dead-set on going out with a bang in its 15th anniversary year as a Manufacture. And the brand is bringing a couple of gifts, in the form of a unique piece of the gorgeous Tremblage, and a special edition of the evocative Backpage! It might be a touch confusing when it comes to the German high-end watchmaking company Moritz Grossmann’s timeline, but in this case, we’re talking about the present-day brand. The name goes back a lot further than just
Video Review: A Closer Look at the Blue Dial IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40
Let’s get up close and personal… We have already explored the revamped IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 in detail when it was launched in 2023, the same year that the Schaffhausen-based brand decided to give this long-lasting collection its 1976 Genta-inspired design back. More recently, what is now a strong contender in the luxury sports watch category (also known as an elegant sports watch with an integrated bracelet) got a new deep blue dial, a classic of the genre, making it possibly the best new Ingenieur Automatic yet. I am well aware a lot has been said about the collection already, and a lot will be said about this one, too, but one thing we should all agree on now is that visually, the Ingenieur looks quite amazing in classical steel and blue. So here’s our video review of this newest edition. The steel trio of IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 introduced in 2023 in Aqua, Black and SilverThe Ingenieur has been around since the mid-1950s, but the current generation was pres
Hands-On - The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Orange Diver
TAG Heuer is adding a new flavour to the Aquaracer Professional 300 collection with a vibrant orange dial. Just like the latest models introduced last year, the watch was inspired by the reference 844 diver (with an orange dial in this case). The new design in 2021 was more refined than its predecessors, bringing a luxury tool watch for all occasions. The original reference 844 Orange Diver with a tangerine dial was introduced soon after the series launched in 1978 and has since been very popular with collectors. Vibrant orange is nothing new for TAG Heuer divers, but it's a desirable addition to this revamped series.?The stainless steel case is brushed and polished with a 43mm diameter. The 12-sided unidirectional rotating bezel has a black ceramic insert with contrasting white 60-minute Arabic numerals/marks and a detailed 15-minute scale. The triangular marker has Super-LumiNova with a blue glow. The signed crown screws down and is partially guarded by integrated case extensions, an
Panerai Luminor Marina Silver Dial Steel Bracelet PAM00977 and PAM00978 (Specs & Price)
For the first time in its history, Panerai, the Italian brand well-known for its iconic shaped diver’s watches, is introducing two new models with a silver-coloured dial. The new Panerai Luminor Marina watches, which are always the ones with a small seconds subdial, will be available in 42mm and 44mm. To match the silver-coloured dial, both come on a steel bracelet. We’re used to picturing Panerai watches as the archetypical diver’s watch,? robust underwater tools first used by the Italian Navy many decades ago. Big and rugged watches, with a black dial with large and legible Arabic numerals, and the recognizable crown protection device. However, since the brand was bought by the Vend?me Group in 1997 (which later became Richemont), collections with more complications and styles were developed. Today, the range comprises much more than iconic professional diver’s watches. And while the Italian brand already offered various dial colours, including white and cream-
