Recap: The Best Chronographs of Watches and Wonders 2024
An absolute must for any respectable watchmaker, the chronograph complication was once again well-represented at the 2024 edition of Watches and Wonders… To say the least, as we’ve seen some fascinating new models. What struck us most was the fact that many of these chronograph watches came with more than just a start-stop-reset function. Flyback, mono-pusher, split-seconds, high-frequency… Here are 6 of the most important new chronographs launched during this year’s Geneva fair.?A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Up/Down Blue DialFirst released in 1999, the Datograph by A. Lange & Sohne is one of the most important watches in the chronograph category. With a couple of other models, it started the trend for in-house, high-end chronograph movements. To celebrate its 25th anniversary this year, ALS releases a limited edition of the second generation Datograph, the Up/Down version, in white gold with a handsome blue dial. Apart from this new combination of material
Buying Guide - The best colourful dials of 2022
If there’s one thing we’re very happy (and somewhat surprised) about regarding the watchmaking industry is the fact that many brands are stepping out of the limelight and fully embracing colour. And we’re not talking about small dabs of colour in a delicate form of artistic expressionism, but using colour to its fullest in a watch. Bright, bold colours beyond the habitual black, white and silver. Colours that make a watch truly pop on the wrist and can grab attention from across the room. You might have expected a Buying Guide of green dials only, but we’ve gone for even bolder choices just to mix things up a bit. With that being said, here’s our Top of the Colour Watches 2022!Nomos Club Campus Deep PinkComing out of the gates swinging, there are very few dials that pack a punch like the Nomos Club Campus Deep Pink! Despite its small size, this is hands-down the brightest, most in-your-face dial tone we’ve seen this year. The bright pink tone jumps a
In-Depth: The History of the ETA Peseux 7001, The Hand-Wound Classic
Self-winding calibres are undeniably an advancement, especially those boasting extended autonomy. Yet, there is a timeless ritual, almost archaic, the deliberate act of winding a watch by thumb and forefinger, each click of the ratchet wheel a symphony for the discerning ear. This tactile dance, this connection to the mechanics, is a pleasure some aficionados cannot forsake. As we edge closer to the end of the first quarter of the 21st century, manually wound watches persist and experience a new surge in popularity, fueled by a resurgence in appreciation for hand-wound calibres.Among these calibres, one movement has stood the test of time for over fifty years. It has powered numerous watch brands’ broad spectrum of creations, remaining a steadfast presence in the industry. I’m talking about the ETA/Peseux 7001, a movement with a storied legacy. Here is a recap of its enduring saga. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry Reports Growth in 2018 - Downturn in December - Monochrome Watches
The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FHS) reports exports up 6.3% at CHF 21.2 billion in 2018, back above the CHF 20 billion mark. Exports have now climbed for two consecutive years as demand bounced back in 2017 (CHF 19.9 billion, +2.7%), after two years of decline. The performance achieved in 2018 is still inferior to that of 2015.The 2018 Omega Seamaster Diver 300M – Last July, the Swatch Group and its subsidiaries, including Omega, reported 2018 half-year sales up 14.7%.Growth slowed over the second semester as exports had benefited from a 10.5% jump over the first six months of 2018. If the trend has been positive for two years now, the industry outlook remains uncertain overall, in particular in view of fears on global trade tensions and concerns over the spending of affluent Chinese. The watch industry has been facing a number of changes and challenges over the past years with digital transformation, new distribution schemes and evolving consumer preferences. This un

It's been a celebratory year over at TAG Heuer as the brand fetes its grand 160th anniversary with a special emphasis on Jack Heuer's iconic Carrera.
